As a doctor, I personally do not believe that the proposed 7 year program is ideal. 4 years of basic medical science, leaves only 3 years for pathology and clinical medicine. It's too small. This will produce graduates who are not properly grounded in the basics. There's a world of difference between a clinician and an anatomist, biochemist or physiologist
