What I know is that people will love you more when you have something to offer, eg, plenty money, big money, money money money, some of these big yahoo guys doesn't possess most of the ish you put up there, but people wanna associate with them, my brother everybody loves them, so forget oga ade, hustle hard, double your hustle, in fact triple your hustle, and you will see how people will be flocking around you, gym ko, gym ni, owonikoko ..... Money isn't everything.. your comment goes a long way to show the kind of person you are in real life. People won't like you if you have all the money but have a really terrible personality.

You can't make people like you if you have a terrible character or personality, being liked by people is very important in the society today and has lots of advantages, fortunately you can try to change that with this list i made up;

1. Always try to smile when you're surrounded with people. This will make them feel you're a really comfortable person to be with or talk to.

2. Try to greet people first. This makes people feel you're a calm and humble person and people will like you easily.

3. Do not involve in arguments too much, if you sense an argument is getting too intense, back off. This doesn't change your opinion but will make the other person respect and like you more.

4. Talk less and listen more. Learn to talk less and listen to what other people have to say, since you don't talk much and listen to what other people say, people will always listen to what you have to say and will like you more as most people don't like talkatives.

5. Let go of your pride and ego.
People tend to like people who are not always about themselves or brag about everything they have. If you're good at something or have achieved lots of cool things, people are not blind, they'll notice it and will compliment you when they want to.

6. Make friends with other people. If people see you have many friends they'll like to be your friend too.

7. Have a passion for something interesting. Sports, learning to play an instrument, blogging, programming, breakdancing etc are all very good ways to start your passion. People will like you if they see you're very passionate at what you do.

8. Do not involve yourself in Gossip or say something bad about someone to other people,
while they may enjoy what you tell them, they will think you'll say the same thing about them if they become close friends with you.

9. Treat women with respect whether they're attractive to you or not. This will sure make most people like you. You don't need to be awkward about it, you might start small by opening the door for a lady or let her have her way first.

10. When you're angry try not to use insulting words or get into a fight, remain calm about the issue and walk up to the person politely and tell them how what they did or said was really impolite and that you hope for them not to repeat that attitude again.

11. Respect other people's opinions. You have to understand that not everyone will accept things the same way you do and you have to respect that.

12. Take care of your hygiene and health. You can hit the gym once or twice a week. It's natural for us humans to like fit and healthy people.

13. Spend less time trying to attract or impress the opposite sex.

14. Try to be mysterious. Don't let people know everything about you, you can do this by limiting the kind of personal things you discuss with people.

15. Do not care much about what most people think about you. You have to understand that not everyone will like you, and you have to learn not to please anyone all the time and be yourself. Haters are gonna hate.

Bonus tip: Learn to use the word You most times in your conversations instead of I all the time, it makes the person you're talking to feel valued and important not just you.

I try to follow this list everyday and it has really improved my lifestyle.

Saw this and i knew OP is just opinionated.
Nairaland looks great as it is, the only thing nairaland needs now is a better system for moderation as the community is not exactly family friendly (too vulgar most times).
Changing a few things will also improve overall user experience.

You can use mysql timestamp for this (YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS) field type to store your time and date variables in mysql.

$sDate = date("Y-m-d H:i:s" )
; // 2016-10-12 09:48:00
mysql_query("insert into `table_name` set `created_on` = '$sDate'" )
;

It also gives you the ability to use mysql functions to compare dates, calculate time differences and so on directly in your mysql query.

Note: Also you can always retrieve the timestamp using strtotime() function.

$result = mysql_query("select `created_on` from `table_name`" )
;
$row = mysql_fetch_row($result)
;
$iTimestamp = strtotime($row[0])
; // 1428390771

Just so you know, reading ebooks doesn't make you any better or productive, you have to actually do stuff (exercise) to become stronger or better. I've been there (avid ebook reader) but ebooks only gives you some understanding while practice makes you good at doing stuff.

Have you not realized that Nairaland is more than just a Nigerian forum? It has gradually risen to become one of the many faces of the Nigerian digital life. What picture would threads like this paint of us before International viewers?

It is folks like this that would prefer to tout themselves as high-ranking on internet boards that would run away from real word collaborations when the chips are down! Because they realize that they are inadequate.

Have you heard of Jon Skeet? One of the most popular guys on S.O (Stackoverflow). The guy is regarded as a god. Not because of some stupid "ranking", but because of his activity in solving problems in Stackoverflow.

Any developer who's worth his salt will not come and settle for this joke. Go out there guys. Solve problems. Earn badges. Build stuff. Enhance your portfolio. You will be better respected and noticed.

No offense to anybody. But enough is enough with mediocrity!!!
