they want an elaborate wedding but are not willing to contribute to it. when the nicca does the elaborate wedding and the get financial stranded the ladies will start nagging. when he doesn't they say he is stingy. *smh* for them. they fail to realize that after the so called elaborate wedding the most important of them all (the marriage ) comes next.

I don't have to contribute, if he can't provide all I want for the wedding, he can wed the next girl. can't marry a poor man.

You are contradicting yourself Mr Man. Ask any girl and you'll rarely hear an American or Europen girl. So American and European girls are aliens baa
It irks me when some Nigerian guys say degarding things about Nigerian ladies and praise their European/American counterparts. How many Nigerian Ladies have you met and how many European/American ladies have you met for you to come to this baseless conclusion
back to the discussion, I just think Nigerian girls place too much emphasis on wedding ceremonies as if making it the talk of the town is their bucket wish. You hardly hear guys talking about how they want to impress in their wedding, but listening to Nigerian ladies discuss wedding details you will think that's what they live for.

Guys please take this seriously.it is not worth spending so much on a wedding even if you can afford it.. it's a worrisome trend, some homes have broken up because of accumulation of debts in marriage cos of a mere wedding. Churches should really help counsel couples in this regard.

I like how people always wanna tell you how to spend your money. This is a good advice but if you can afford a very good wedding, go for it. Left to me, an average wedding should cost btwn N5-7 million.

And then live in a rented apartment or do I assume the groom has his own house? With that amount, you can build a small 2/3 bedroom bungalow in a suburban housing estate and live happily thereafter. smiley Too far? You can let if out to subsidise your rent in the city.
The wedding is just an event preceeding the marriage which is the real deal. Invest for a joyful and less stressful future together if you have that much. Avoid debt as your expenses are bound to increase after the wedding. Be wise!

Key phrase if you can afford it. Affordability doesn't mean if you have N10 million in the bank you now spend N7million on a wedding that's not affordability. Get it? Just because you have enough money to buy something that doesn't mean you can afford it. Let people spend their money how they want.

shut up ur mouth..u are talking as if u have really made it in life

LOL poverty mentality. So spending N5-7 million ($15,000 -20,000) on a wedding now means someone has made it in life? Funny dude. I attended my Indian's friends wedding where they spent a whooping $150,000. All hands are not equal, rather than attacking a faceless person on nairaland, you should be happy for others and pray that God blesses u.

Will a typical naija babe agree to a 150k wedding? They don't care if he has to borrow, the wedding must be the talk of the town wedding. Most won't even contribute to it.

The driver of majority of expensive weddings is the woman..

Why not when she pressures the man into a new wedding gown instead of renting, 7-step cake and plenty of Ashebi girls.
After all, it is her wedding and ..."you don't do it twice."

If the man does stand his ground and plan his wedding according to his means, na him palaver be that.
The glamour and fanfare is soon forgotten but the hardship lingers.

Yoruba introduction alone dwarfs that of everything you spend on your marriages where chinchin is an entree. You ibos only hungrily ask for dowry. We return dowry but throw 3 olympic size parties.

Wedding is a scam, you can bring a woman into your house and have kids and live ur life.

You don't need to be subject to fraudulent institutions that just want to extort money from u.

All marriages whether whether approved or not have the same destination.
THEY TERMINATE

True talk @nbright. This is exactly where many couples get it wrong from the beginning. It should not be surprising when such husbands complain about their wife's spending habit after wedding. They got the foundation of the wedding totally wrong.
