Lagos Shuts Mountain Of Fire, Mobil, Others by BlackRevo: 12:07am On Jul 25, 2009
A combined team of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and policemen, today shut down Mountain of Fire and Miracle (MFM) Ministry, Mobil filling station and other companies over environmental nuisance.

Also shut were Afritec Limited, Wempco Road, Ogba, Investment Holdings, Marina Street and Jesus Warrior Fellowship, Mushin.

The affected places of worship and the companies had earlier been served abatement notices, which they did not comply with.

LASEPA officials and the police stormed MFM located on 22, Ojekunle Street, Mushin and sealed it off over incessant noise pollution and refusing to attend the meeting conveyed by the state government.

Jesus Warrior Fellowship, which shares the same address with MFM, was also sealed off over the same reasons.

Mobil filling station, Okota Road, Isolo, was shut down by the government for polluting the underground water on Okota Road/Dele Ashiru Street and its environs with petroleum products.

Afritec Limited on Wempco Road, was shut down for gross insubordination to constituted authority, as its workers obstructed officials of LASEPA from carrying out their duties.

Investment Holdings on 47, Marina Street, was sealed off because it became a nuisance in the area as a result of the noise and gaseous pollution from its generating set.

According to LASEPA General Manager, Engr. Rasheed Shabi, the agency had over a period of time investigated complaints on sanitation and environmental pollution nuisance caused by the operators of the companies and churches.

He stated that in view of their noncompliance with environmental laws, and after due process had been followed, the agency requested the support of the police to enforce the environmental laws of the state.

Shabi stated that apart from sealing off the churches and companies, the organizations will be sanctioned.

He added that the affected organizations would not be reopened until they stop polluting the environment.

If they are looking to shut down places for generator noises, then everywhere in Nigeria including ASS Rock will have to be shut down for generator noises including PCHN when we hadly have power supply.

It is a good idea, may be our 'non-leader' leaders will wake up from the people agitation.
