Nigeria hosted Egypt in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match on Friday and a lot of fans turned out to watch it live. So many in fact, that they crammed into every nook and cranny of the stadium. In ways that seem incredibly dangerous. The scenes look incredibly dangerous, but fortunately it looks like everyone made it out of the stadium safely. No casualty reported.

Meanwhile, emergency response is almost non existent in the event there was an accident. The security forces shouldn't have allowed those people to climb on that platform. I was so shocked when the camera showed that first picture. It was unbelievable. I guess the huge number of spectators who turned out for the match overwhelmed the security personnel. It's a miracle there was no accident and no casualty.

Host another match on that pitch, and this scenario would get repeated. We are good at not learning from mistakes, unless there was a grave consequence.
