Thanks for your concern Deji, i have tried but there is no upper/lower filter in there. I am using Win 7 (32-bit) OS. Any other option please?

Zim Drill, thanks also. Find below the situation of my sound/sound card. It just stopped working one day. I have tried everything humanly possible with drivers but to no avail before taking taking it to a repairer that attributed it to the bad IC.

RE:CD/DVD NOT IN MY COMPUTER/EXPLORER

1.Click Start, and then click Run.
2.In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
3.In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
4.In the right pane, click UpperFilters.

Note You may also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You do not have to remove that entry. Click UpperFilters only. If you do not see the UpperFilters registry entry, you still might have to remove the LowerFilters registry entry. To do this, go to step 7.
5.On the Edit menu, click Delete.
6.When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
7.In the right pane, click LowerFilters.

8.On the Edit menu, click Delete.
9.When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
10.Exit Registry Editor.
11.Restart the computer.

did you download the driver from the manufacturer website? for the actual model
Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by ekpriobong(m): 10:19am On Nov 20, 2011
Zim, yes I downloaded the driver from the HP site itself. The actual model of the HP Pavilion notebook is dv6910us (dv6700). I have even tried Microsoft UAA, still no joy. If you have any more option, I'll appreciate and I can still try. I just need a way out of this.

Deji, please find below my registry editor situation on the problem. Please, you guys should help me out.

I appreciate all your concerns.

zim,u eva said dv6000series wasnt designed for windows 7, if dis guy is sure its not a hardware problem then i can conveniently sit windows 7 on d laptop even using d simpliest method, load xp professional or vista and load all d drivers then proceed to do an UPGRADE to windows 7, it wld automatically integrate the old drivers into windows 7.
difficult way:d clean installation-d drivers are surely not open on d hp driver website but there are certain win7 drivers(ATI high def audio drivers) dat are very compactible , depending on d archietecture of the laptop, for novices, try method 1

the reason i said it was not designed for windows 7 is that from the manufacturer web site WINDOWS 7 is not listed

hence the problem

why try to force it when you know that the pc wont give you the best out of windows 7 becoz the pc is meant for VISTA and below

Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by sameolg616(m): 1:01pm On Nov 21, 2011
zim,i agree with u that its not listed there, reason is simply to promote win7compliant and win7 system or atimes, the hardware is simply designed to work best wit windows 7, but the laptop in question is capable,
so all i offered was the backdoor option, dats why we are here to offer "extra assistance" to the general public,
from the little i have read in his complaint history, its sounding more of a hardware issue,
to be on the safe path,mr ekpriobong, kindly downgrade the system to xp or vista then reload the drivers, if it works then you are sure its not hardware related and we can now proceed to the upgrade,

we always tell people to download LAN DRIVER or WIRELESS before formatting and save on them somewhere (not on the same pc you about to format) this especially for windows xp

that way you will be able to get back online and download the rest of the drivers

what kind of pc thats doesnt have support service to download drivers?

name the model and the series of your pc and the OS

You must've had the SAME problem i encountered just yesterday!! Did you just install any update recently? Like a Service Pack or something?

I found a work around for it but you'll need a USB disk and a script i'll upload below this post.

Steps to recovering your PC from this state

1 - Download the attached script. I saved it as Script.pdf, copy the contents of the PDF file and paste them in a notepad, save it as Script.vbs to your flash drive.
2 - Start your Computer, you'll be prompted to either Startup Windows normally or Recovery Options, choose the Recovery method (Startup Repair).
3 - It'll try to diagnose the problem, but fail to find anything. . .PLEASE DO NOT RESTART your laptop/PC. You should look at the dialog box(bottom corner) and you'll see something likeAdvance Recovery Options (Note: The way you see it might differ from the way i typed it on here). Click on Advacance Recovery Options.

You will be prompted to enter your password, do so.

4 - You'll see a list of options available to you, in a dialog box. Click on Command Prompt, which launches the DOS prompt window
5 - Insert your USB to a USB port (in the laptop that has the problem)
6 - If you're NOT sure about the drive letter assigned to your USB, type DISKPART, then type LIST DISK, which lists all the drives currently connected to your laptop. Your USB file size and drive letter will be listed, which makes it easy for you to know the actual letter assigned to your USB.

Type EXIT to leave the DISKPART environment and return to the main command prompt.

NOW. .we run the script *wipes sweat* grin cheesy

With the Command prompt STILL open, type "Cscript script.vbs C:\Windows\windowsxs\pending.xml" (without the quote marks)

When the command finishes, you'll see this message "2 POQ nodes removed. Script Completed".

Restart your laptop.

Let us know if this helped you.
Cheers
