Oliseh no try yes but Enyeama should have settled things properly with the NFF especially after Sunday left his managerial position. Why Oliseh wasn't sensitive when handling the transfer of captainship to Musa is still a puzzle to me. I mean look at how handled giving Mikel the captain's armband without any fight or hassles. But make we talk true sometimes our national team players display unbecoming behavior with the SE they dare not replicate at club level.

I don't care about him not coming back when he should have never been forced out in the first place. And let's stop this nonsense about enyeama not trying such at his club. No club would strip u off the captain band a few days after you bury your mother. No European club would do that.

Oliseh didn't give Mikel the band. Siasia gave it to Mikel. That also was also a ridiculous decision. They gave him the job to beat Egypt and qualify for the nations cup but he started with politics. Then we were playing in Kaduna and that made the decision risky because there was the initial threat of a riot because Musa was stripped.

Imagine leaving a tournament with no games won, no games drawn and not a single goal scored.

Turkish football needs a dramatic overhaul. This is so phucking depressing.
They just scored.

@Bolded , no one forced him out. He forced himself out. Even during the fiasco, he was still Oliseh no.1 goal keeper. The NFF even persuaded him to come back after Oliseh left but man felt he was doing the team a favour. I'm not a fan of Oliseh but I'll not accept the narrative of being forced out that you want to be pushing.

There is nothing to argue about because it is an issue of decency. If u feel it is ok to stress a man just days after his mother's funeral then there's nothing I can say about that.

Well you never say never but rosters are always tight this time of the year.

I doubt we would have taken the same team even if those rules were not there. Whoever put afro basket right after the Olympics doesn't want us doing well, simple and plain. But at the end of the day we should have a good enough talent pool to prosecute both tournaments.
The team camp is even opening today.. First for fringe players Sha.. G league, college and international players.. The NBA boys will join them a week later.
Upcoming friendlies against USA, Australia and Argentina grin

Ahmed Musa still only one assist in the NPFL.

Looking forward to the coming weeks.

But isn't Brighton being coached by Graham Potter the genius?
I don't think they play long balls like that...

There is a transformation taking place in football, due to a lot of teams adopting a seating deep strategy against possessive sides.

"It could be better, we played similar to how have all season. We did not defend good for the first goal. They then defended so deep, they defended with six and it was not easy," Guardiola told BBC Match of the Day.

"It is not easy, Harry Kane and Ndombele are on halfway, the space is so difficult, our possession play was good, but football is the boxes and that is where we were not good."

Guardiola stressed on this and I took the liberty of even highlighting my proposed means of breaking them down.

If you even watch Spain, you will notice the difficulty lately.

So the recent angle of treating this is by building up to spaces close to the large defensive block of the opposition, being close to a tall front man, you can find him with crosses.

What this does, is make the defenders or defending units of the block decide to break it to try to stop the crosses. Thus, creating space in the defending box to attack.

Finally, most possessive sides have learnt how to press relentlessly. We have seen it in Southampton, Leeds, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City and a host of others.

In such situation, you opt for a long ball to a big forward who can keep the ball for build up plays or swift attacks.

So it is not about a switch to a negative tactics but conforming to the modern approach of teams.

The irony is that they were winning big games before the tournament, destroying Norway and Netherlands. Everyone saw them as the black horse of the tournament, especially as they were drawn into a relatively easy group. The whole thing is embarassing.

Oliseh already made up his mind on Enyeama. He just used the excused of coming late to camp to nail him.He already preferred Carl Ikeme as his number one and mind you Mikel would have faced similar situation if not for Oliseh resignation. Remember Mikel was once benched for one Peter Onobi by Oliseh.

Enyeama saw the hand writing on the wall and he move on and giving Musa captain band was pure politics by Oliseh and he learnt that from Westerhoff and Bonfrere..He tried to use Musa captaincy to secure his job guess what northern power block backing.

Siasia just need to bring normalcy to the team by giving the captain band to Mikel and losing to Egypt was not cos of that... we had a good game in both legs but list out 1-2 aggregate.

I think Pinnick overrated Sunday Oliseh.

The truth was that Oliseh did not act on his own and was under instructions to tame Enyeama.

Oliseh could not wait to dish out the instructions which was bad timing.

Oliseh going did not change anything. Those who wanted Enyeama out were still at the corridors of the nff. So Enyeama returning was not an option. Enyeama was pushed out of the team.

With time, I have come to think Oliseh was capable of handling the job well but he was surrounded by too much politics. It got to a point Oliseh refused to do their biddings and they frustrated him out by owing the hell out of him. I also believe there were external influences on the team too.

I don't think Onuachu has the pace to chase down and finish long balls... He thrives best with a partner or a proper creative cast behind him...
Not a very good move IMO...

To enjoy Onuachu, you need to watch Rodri. I refer to him as the Rodri of attack. It is not about pace but anticipation which Onuachi does well.

You don't need all that pace if you can anticipate the spaces and explore them. This could be brushed out on the tactical boards and drills. When he is in sync with the team, they can anticipate his movement, get the ball to him. All he will need to do is to read his pass earlier.

His job is to help break the press and help the team get into position for their possessive play with less pressure.

Oliseh destroyed the team and he was lost.

The team was in disarrayed and players are ready to revolt... NFF saw this coming and were not happy about the situation especially Enyeama case.

It was not NFF instruction to humiliate Vincent Enyeama but Oliseh wanted to act like Guardiola but forgetting that Guardiola always have good options regarding his philosophy.

Oliseh saw Carl Ikeme as his number one and no fuss about it but Nigerian attitudes failed him...I remember Berti Vogts preferred Ejide over Enyeama and nothing spoils.

He striped Enyeama captain band during team dinner, very disrespectful act,no coach does that..I remember when Keshi came back to eagles after some lay off in 1987,Paul wonder Halmiton met Keshi in his room that Andrew Uwe was the team captain and Keshi accented.

Oliseh lack managerial capability in handling things may be due to his temperamental attitudes... I still remember his outburst with Siasia during US 94 which made Westerhoff to bench Siasia against Italy..he had the same issue with Victor Agali and sport minister during Senegal 2002.Hope you remember his famous headbutt against his teammate at Bochum.

That was not his job. He should have secured qualification first before going on to do anything.

We lost because we were naive and the Egyptians were unsportsmanlike. That ball should have been thrown back to us.

Oliseh's temperament issue is not the context I was referring to but his tactical acumen.

I still believe there were issues still worrying the team and it was sheer politics from the time of Keshi.

Oliseh was fully behind the uprooting of Keshi. It was purely political and I believe Enyeama, being Keshi's right hand man was always a target.

That made the ground unfavorable for Oliseh and his temper issues just heightened it.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Dawn Of A New Era, AFCON 2022 And Qatar 2022 by TheGoodJoe(m): 7:36pm On Jun 20
Before the appointment of Oliseh to handle the National team, the nff were already in a motion to strip Enyeama off his captaincy.

So Oliseh taking the job had to finish that wish of the so called big boys of the NFF.

Just before the appointment of Oliseh, reports have it that the NFF wanted to strip Enyeama off his captaincy.

By October, Oliseh does the job of stripping Enyeama his captaincy.

It was a planned job and the politics behind the sacking of Keshi caught up with Oliseh.

There are egoists behind the scene that run Nigerian football for their benefits. That is why my passion is slowly dying for the team.

If the NFF put half the effort they use on nonsense like this into the super Eagles we would be world cup contenders. Elaborate schemes just to remove a player. I would rather walk up to a man and say I don't like him than doing all that extra planning and strategizing.

You are hundred percent right. We have the potential to do great things but those at the corridors of power are only out to damage our football for their personal gain.

Emir Sanusi calls it vested interest. The scheme went as far as frustrating even Keshi out of the Job.

It is disheartening.

My take was a cartel in the NFF always wanted Keshi out. Remember the reported sack before our cracker against Cote d'voire before Keshi won the Afcon.

They always wanted him out, and some senior players were part of the plot. That was a reason why Keshi rotated his team a lot. Even to some mind bending choices like bringing an unknown player from China.

The earlier sacking and getting his job back.

I honestly believe the cartel got to their contacts in Cote d'voire to announce Keshi as an applicant to sack him. And, Keshi never applied the job.

Enyeama and Mikel were also targets. Mikel knew, that was why he rejected the band. I believe Rohr also purposely frustrated Mikel out. That is another matter.

Either way, the NFF is shrouded with too much evil for me to break my head for the team.
