andrew444: Oh .I see...I don't even follow him on social media.. Its not uncommon for celebrities to block comments on their social media accounts due to backlash from fans.. Dejan Lovren at some point had to delete his Instagram account due to constant insult he got from Liverpool fans.. Now,I don't support the threats and insults on Ighalo's family...I do criticize him here but never his personal life .just his game... But as a footballer or celebrity, u gotta understand that getting insults from fans are part of the game...it's something u have to deal with everyday.. even the best footballers in the world like Messi and Ronaldo get their own share of it..Think of what Yakubu went through after that miss against Korea...imagine how scared he was to enter Nigeria.. its an occupational hazard bro.... U gotta take the criticism in good faith and work harder to prove them wrong.. Because Nigerians insulted Ighalo during the world cup doesn't mean they didn't appreciate what he did at the AFCON.. |

darkelf: If I say Balo is a better defender than both of them ,I didn't mean in this afcon or this season that just ended ,so no need to even use that one self as we all know he is a bench warmer On a normal day balogun is better than both Our best defender in his afcon is omeruo But me I am saying on a normal day balogun is better than them |

andrew444: You don't know that bro. We might have won the game, we might even loose even if yakubu had taken that chance. Football is about taking chances, but if you fail to do so,the person that missed it will be the scape goat, except if the game went in our favor. the unfortunate scape goat was Yakubu. That is football for you. Higuain was the scape goat for Argentina in 2014 despite playing well in the tournament. But he'll only be remembered for those misses in the final. despite the fact that Argentina was the better side |

According to the Topic of this Interesting and Informative Thread: We have seen World Cup 2018 and AFCON 2019. It's time for the Beginning of New Era; I want to see our Super eagles become Invincible from now till the end of AFCON 2021(at least). With good management and brilliant tactics, European teams should find it tough against us and other African teams should only hope for a draw at most. ... I hope this thread will continue to be active till then. I strongly believe some of our posts and comments here are getting to the Glass house. ONE LOVE!! 6 Likes |

Algerian1:See crowd... Great reception. The players seeing such crowds welcome them, will feel more like a TRUE HERO-such a great honor. No amount of club trophies can be equated to 1 international trophy for one's nation. How I wish Nigeria players can don the countries jersey and play with and for pride. But money is their only drive. It's a very rare privilege to lift an international trophy. Instead for them to learn from their predecessors (2000-2010) generation of SEs who despite their potentials and talents failed consecutively to lift a single international trophy due to their lack of patriotism and loyalty to the GWG coupled with indiscipline. The likes of Martins, Yak, Osaze, Taiwo, Udeze, Obodo, Agahowa, Garba, Kalu Uche, etc will look back and regret failing themselves. Olympic Gold medal was Kanu's saving grace.Quality wise, that generation were the closest to the Golden generation 4 Likes |

AIG07: I can only imagine how many young players born in France this triumph and celebration have already swayed to dump France and tread same route as these heroes Mahrez, Fegouli, Bensebaini et al. Guys Algeria will only get stronger. Go online to see how young French ballers of Algerian descent are celebrating this Victory. Feels great to be an Algerian now!! The success of this team rests on Djamel who doesnt see himself as a boss to the guys buh a CARTEL and play mate, hence they all respect and love him. Did u see how Atal was crying alongside him against CIV? Man they feel each other's pains and the bond that binds the team is so strong. Interestingly, this man is a no nonsense man, and has instilled discipline in the team. Remember what he did to Mahrez when he failed to arrive on time to join their team bus, remember he sat a class act like Brahimi on the bench without any uproar, do I also have to remind u that he didnt consider bringing Bentalab and Soudani to this AFCON? 4 Likes |

5 Reasons Why Eagles failed in Egypt – Dimeji Lawal The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations has come and gone, but if Nigeria aims to clinch 2021 AFCON the work must start now. Moreover, some of the factors which wholly dashed Super Eagles’ hope in 2019 AFCON hosted should be put under scrutiny: Lack of Compactness It is a belief of many that Nigeria is blessed with dynamic footballers. Yes, but individual skill without compact wins no team trophy,as a piece of broom never sweeps like a bunch. Lack of communication and inability to come together as a team cost them a lot. Goal keeping problem Super Eagles traveled to the tournament with three goalkeepers: Daniel Akpeyi, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Francis Uzoho of which the former was chosen as a starter. Self confidence, pass accuracy, quick saving and catching were absent in him. Most especially against Algeria where he hide behind the free kick wall that later resulted to 94th-minute-winning goal that broke nation’s hearts. Absence of Specialists Creativity plays major role in conquering foes during competitions. Super Eagles found it difficult to produce free kick specialists, corner kick experts et all. Inability to put round peg on the round hole is another failure. Ball juggling midfielders During Austin Jay Jay Okocha’s reign, his twists and turns often brought joy to every lover of football. It is repugnant to scarcely see a strong Ball jugglers who can exhibit dexterity, distribute passes and mesmerize stubborn opponents among the present players. This dragged Super Eagles’ image to dust at the just concluded AFCON. Weak Attacking force As fierce as a lion, so the attacking force should be. Had it been the anointed – top striker(Odion Ighalo) been looked hungrier he would have scored 8 or 10 times. Current Super Eagles’attack doesn’t threaten opponents defence enough. It was apparently glaring during Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon encounters where Nigeria was saved by the duo of Kenneth Omeruo and Troost Ekong respectively instead of attackers. On a final note, coming third at a tournament which 24 teams competed in is never a curse. Although we should always aim high and go for nothing less than gold. Compactness, good goal keeping system, expertise at all angles, midfield restructuring and reliable attacking force remain factors for Super Eagles’ resurrection, former Eagles player Oladimeji Lawal told Brila FM. |
