Pique, van dijk, Boateng, hummels are good ball playing defenders. Man untd new signing maguire is also good at building from defence. David Luiz is another good mention but erratic atimes
andrew444:

Lol

Example of the bolded na our ekong

The most confident defender on the ball i have ever seen is Pique

I really want the duo of tomori and uduokhai so that we will have more depth in the cb position. Balogun may retire in a year or 2.

He should

I am happy that Akpeyi, Mikel and John Ogu weren't invited

Rohr is slowly learning his lessons

But the MF position still lacks a reliable playmaker. Rohr hasn't learnt all his errors from AFCON.

Tomori is good

But guess what will be running through his head now?

I wan play for england because i dey play for big club like chelsea

Sad but the truth

You're right at the bolded.

It will be easier to get Udokhai than Tomori

and the more he keeps playing for chelsea, the more his stock rises in England and trust the English FA to quickly cap him so as to prevent him from falling into Nigerian hands.

My mind is on him 15%
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Dawn Of A New Era, AFCON 2021 And Qatar 2022 by charlesemeka85(m): 12:25am On Aug 15
I think the issue with our midfield is that currently we lack good midfielders playing in Europe's best leagues aside ndidi but I believe that will change with time.

In a season or two I expect the likes of Eze, Onomah, ejaria, Nwakali jnr(if he gets serious) to make the step up. For now we have to make do with what we can lay our hands on in that position

You re right but the 3 lions team isn't the best option for him if he weighs them well. He may get few caps but with super eagles he stands a better chance making a name for himself in international football.

England have alot of good and young center backs who re more established than tomori. The likes of stones, maguire, Keane, takowski and even gomez are all ahead of him.

Not entirely through. Just look at Dele Alli

I doubt he would have achieved what he has now playing for the Super Eagles.

Once you're better than the present quality, a player would achieve more with England so far he is given constant invitations. It is the sad truth

If rudiger returns to full fitness I doubt tomori will play much in chealse unless fa cup and carling cup games.

There is no way he is going to make the England team to next year's euro competition.

Even the promoted epl clubs can produce a young white cb who the media will hype to high heavens just as they did to maguire

This one is the most annoying. A bang average dude being hyped like that. Even Wan bissaka is a better all round defender than maguire. In fact, the hype is very poisonous

When dele came to the scene England lacked good midfielders and currently he is still there best attacking midfielder.

It would have been easier for tomori if England lack quality in the cb position. They have up to five players in that position who re better than him with even few who are uncapped. Also they won't take the risk deploying him as a rb

Another season go pass and they will say he is the tackle king

Me I feel he has more to offer than just unnecessary tackles and fouls in danger areas. He needs to up his game or he needs a better environment to bring out the best in him

Thank you bros. This "young team" mantra is overplayed. We want to win laurels, don't be giving excuses that we are a young team. Abi the young no go old?

forgiveness:

Age shouldn't be the SIU measurement for players selection into the National team. Performance should be the major criterion for selection.

He wasn't justifying anything. Someone said the player was poor in 2016 and he was saying that the player wasn't. My problem is you overlooking the person who brought up 2016 in the first place.

The debate was whether Azubuike was good enough to be invited to the SE

Whether he was poor in 2016 or world best nobody cares, the point is that he is not performing and does not merit an invite

fine make that argument and don't mention age. We can now argue now point by point who is better.

charlesemeka85:
performance related yes but is he better than the young strikers and wingers we have in our possession now? do we lack better players in the position he plays?

I am 50% sure that we will get uduokhai because he is not even a starter in the German u21 and their eyes is more on torunarigha who is better than uduokhai.

This is one of the reasons why the lad had to tell himself the truth and left his options open lol

Will rohr ever give this guys the opportunity.

My problem with Rohr is his delay in making crucial decisions

It took him the AFCON to know that Akpeyi isn't a GK but a farmer that like to make ridges in the goalpost.

Abeg, he should not waste time to invite the right talents. I feel Ebere Eze's call up is long overdue

The funny team about Rohr is that he makes little changes, yet the team will still be playing like they have not been together for quite awhile lol.. These lads should be spraying passes with their eyes closed by now

Modified
And let me add KC does not deserve to be invited. If we want to help this boy, let him work hard for his invite.

A player that just played 90 minutes in a champions league qualifier is not performing? The way you guys slander this particular player is just scandalous.

I am not ungrateful man!! Stop rushing to conclusions. I am one of the few who didn't critic him or even Rohr after our exit from the AFCON.

But that shouldn't stop me from pointing out weaknesses in his game. You don't like the guy more than me

You guys just jump into conclusion easily what makes u think if they do well they won't get a look in? Rohr is not that stupid or blind to ignore any of them if they even standout in the championship.

No reasonable coach ignores players who will make his team better

No matter what you say, Ebere Eze is long overdue for inclusion. Majority here would agree.

Please note that i didn't clamor for any other player because I don't see their added benefit to the MF position (maybe apart from Tomori if he is interested)

Then why did u make reference to the mistake he made against Algeria? Even the best players in the world are prone to errors and commit plunders that cost their teams.

Every player have their strongest and weakest areas and all can never be the same. Kante is a world class player while ndidi is still coming up and working hard to get better.

We have only 1 attacking midfielder
