You don't know Rohr. Ever since Ebuehi's injury he seems to have lose trust in him. He'd even play Awaziem or Shehu in his place of we're playing a serious match.

Ebuehi is already a starter, the thing with Rohr is if you lose your spot you will find it hard to take it back and with Ebuehi's consistency in club performances he has already nailed the right back spot

So, we had Okoye man the post against Benin, and Uzoho man the post against Lesotho, with both goalies keeping clean sheets.

First of all, I am glad we have risen from the ashes of Akpeyi and Ezenwa, but I would genuinely like to know what you guys think of both players and the possibility of rotation between them.

Bear in mind, when I say 'rotation', I don't mean the way Enyeama and Ejide were rotated, but something with a little more equity. I genuinely feel like Ejide was shortchanged a lot in the team, because of Enyeama's brilliance, so, while I acknowledge how much of a legend Vincent is, I do feel a bit for Ejide.

So guys, what's your take on the Maduka-Uzoho GK rotation? If you can include their performances in the last two games in your analysis, factor their strengths and weaknesses, it would also be appreciated.

PS: If anyone thinks this should be a standalone topic outside of this thread, also signify.

Thanks

Firstly, i Welcome you back to the crew.
Really missed that Safargirl's kind of view in discussions and argument. grin

Well, for the two goalies, Rohr and his team have really done a good job in managing to groom these two goalies for Nigeria.

Excellent that they both kept clean sheets, even though I owe it partly to they not really being much tested in both encounters.

On the issue of their rotation, you cannot have equity if both goalies are in form and are available for selection. You must have a "number 1". The other would then serve as a backup. Goal keepers generally get better with Experience and age. And so it is better to identify the "number 1" and give him more of the game time.
Take a major tournament like a WC or AFCON for instance you don't Present a different goalie for each game. The first choice goalie keeps goal for 70% to 100% of the matches in that tournament.

So, it is normal for the first choice goalie to be more regular in goal than the second choice.

This Thread sha. I keep seeing posts rating Ebuehi ahead of Aina and I wonder if I watched a different Match. I didn't see anything spectacular in his Play, but trust Dudes to exaggerate.

Onuachu was cussed to hell, two Goals in 2 Matches this Week no be Beans.
I swear. I watched 90mins of this game and I didn't see anything spectacular Ebuehi did. He just had a normal quiet game cos Lesotho didn't even pose any threat. Sometimes I wonder if dudes here worship him because of skin color. He had an Okay game. Not a performance that would make Aina not start next time as some people are claiming

The reason he had those chances in the first place was because of his press and him getting into good positions

Osimhen case is just like Rashford. Rashford is also wasteful at times, but it looks that way because these two make a lot of runs in the final third, they are not a "pass the ball to my feet" kind of players. They run into space a lot and they never stop making runs the whole game, that is why it usually look like they are the ones getting all the chances.

Ebuehi is a solid Player, no doubt. Having two solid RBs is healthy for the Squad. Really hope Collins can step up to challenging Zanusi as well.

We don't need to condemn or bring down any of them. So cool Uzoho and Maduka are challenging as well. We need solid Squad, we are not there yet, slowly but surely we'll get there.

Chuks didn't have a good game, but he's immune to Criticism. Nacho didn't have a good Game either, but I see some Posts blaming Iwobi..... LOL!

Agreed

Chukwueze played nonsense

Chuks doesn’t look like he he improving

But I still Dey observe

It was fine. The best we've played on for a while(in Nigeria). It does need a little grading though.

There's nothing that CAF can do about it. COVID is public health issue, and each country health officials take care of that. Most countries will want to trust their own Covid test results. But it seems some African countries want to weaponize it to gain advantage now by declaring fake COVID result.

The fact that Benin rejected the Covid test results should tell you that they intentionally gave Iwobi a fake result and are also suspecting that Seria leone is doing the same to them too

An excellent display from the lads today. The once young squad is beginning to look my matured both in appearance and the way they play. smiley

My major worry was the lack of organization between Etebo - Ndidi and Sanusi-Iwobi-Iheanacho.

But the team came back In the second half better and it was an all round excellent display.

In my own decision ..
Via Ebuehi vs aina:.
If the game plan is to score more goals going forward, ebuehi is better going forward.
If the game plan is to defend fully, aina myt be better.

Modified: but generally, I prefer ebuehi.. He keeps possession easily and makes room for passes.

If not for the goal, he would have had a bad game

Certainly not someone I will like to lead the line for Nigeria from the start

He scored a nice goal though
Apart from the goal, Someone that barely played 15mins in a game that was devoid of creative spark to attackers had a bad game? Dude he just played 15mins and he even scored with his only chance. Just say u don't fancy him

Bad

Very bumpy

We are in 2021 and a while country like Nigeria can't give it's national team a good pitch. Which should be an easy thing to do.

It seems those idiots at the NFF underated the effects of a good pitch in a team's football. There are some movements in the final third that the boys was trying to do today but bumpy pitches is just redirecting the ball anyhow

I can tune down my criticism of Onuachu a little now. 2 goals in 2 games, that's impressive. I won't raise any eyebrows if he's included in the team's list going forward.

The only reason why Maduka would remain our No 1 is just because he plays in a more competitive league.

Uzoho has more commanding presence in the box, he's also a better ball player.
