They're very different from each other.
They can play together in the same team.

Boniface moves to Belgium

Very Nice step up. Turns out his game and brace vs Aalesund FK yesterday was his last for Bodø Glimt.

Union St.Gilloise lost First choice striker, Denis Undav to Brighton (he was on loan actually & Union couldn't keep him as Brighton took him back) this summer so this is good for Boniface.

To all those always shouting "Carpenters" in football... well, it seems the last day of July decided to bless us with an early August Visitor.

We have an actual Carpenter in our midst. grin

I insinuated the other time that with his fine form it will be difficult for clubs from better leagues to ignore him

Union st.Gilloise is not one of the biggest names in Belgian club football but was a huge surprise package in the league last term. They will be playing in europe so it’s a good ladder to bigger clubs and leagues for boniface

Superb move I must say

Yes, you were right and his move came sooner than later. Could have wanted to finish the Norwegian season and then secure a move in January but I guess he thought it better to move now.

10 goals in his last 8 games. Surely a few clubs starting their 22/23 campaign had to take notice.

And yep, Royal Union St.Gilloise isn't a big name in Belgium but they finished runners up in the league in 21/22 ONLY LOSING THE TITLE IN THE PLAYOFFS. They topped the regular season table but Club Brugges uses the Playoffs to overtake them and emerge league Champs.

As for European Football, they play Rangers in Round 3 of the UCL Qualifying Series in two days. If they scale through, then UCL group stage could be theirs. Time will tell. Rangers is a tough ask.

But there is something more that interests me about this move. Royal Union St.Gilloise seems to have some sort of MoU with Brighton on players.

Last season they loaded in Denis Undav who top scored for them before returning to Brighton this summer. They have now brought in another Brighton lad on loan, Simon Adingra of CIV.

Boniface doing well at Royal Union could in the future alert Brighton and by extension, other sides in the top 5 leagues to his talents and anything could happen from there. Time will tell.

NB: And yes, I know playing in the EPL at some point also means he would need some international caps under his belt eventually. But let Time be the judge of that.

You know, I never researched that before now but I just checked and yes, Brighton and Royal Union St.Gilloise share the same majority owner, Tony Bloom.

Now this explains my initial observation made on the players transfer between both clubs. There is indeed an MoU.
