Na lie. Nigerian football is drab, too slow and lacking in energy. We make too much noise and then end up going only so far as the 2nd round. If we had qualified, there's probability that we'd be knocked out first round. I'm not being negative. I'm speaking from a historical point of view. For all our noise, we do not have a great world cup record.
Barry wonder, we have 3 2nd round appearances, the most of any african team.

How many did the Ghanaians beat us?
They were just lucky and it happens sometimes.
Their goal keeper made two to three crucial saves while ours fumbled at the crucial moment.
Nothing do or die about their game.
Infact, I am dissapointed at their negative football.

How can you allow that much crosses and corner kicks into your 18?
How can you allow the Koreans to play you like that?
Against a team like Uruguay they would get punished.
I know the coach would revert to 5 at the back against Uruguay. Pure negative football.

You completely missed my point and went offlane.

This is the bitter truth that most don't want to face .

We think we are way better than we actually are, when you accept your limited abilities then you find a way to utilize what you have to get the best results.

Instead we get delusional.

This Uruguay team has not scored in this tournament.
Ghana should get the draw to face Brazil.

Ghana and Cameroun will confirm their fate on Friday. Ghana with a better chance on paper than Cameroun. But just like any soccer game, Ghana could lose against Uruguay for a variety of reasons; red card, play-acting by Uruguay and bad officiating, park the bus syndrome. Park the bus won't work for Uruguay because they usually defend well, tbh they need luck to scale through. For Cameroun, na overdose of pure unadulterated luck o, nothing else will help them, there will be a winner in the Swiss-Serbia game. Even if Brazil rests players, the ones on the bench will overdo and use Cameroun to make a statement. Anything fit happen, nna men but I don't see it happening for Cameroun.

I disagree.

First of all the national team is not where you learn anything the time is very limited and too short.

You are selected because of what you already have from your club and league where you play day in day out all season long. This is where you spend 99% of your footballing life .

So if you haven't learned in your club you will not learn it in the short time you have in the national team.

A good cosch will look at individual player attributes, experiences, capacity and ability then fuse turn into a team with a clear cut strategic vision and plan.

The national team formation is different from their club teams formation. Players have to get used to the positioning of their teammates in the national team...

The national team is where you learn a lot of things..

imagine a player of Akanji Caliber holding our defense together . Man was everywhere and was able to contained the Brazilian forwards. We no get players aje, na past glory dey carry us.

Even if a player of Akanji Caliber was holding our defense it is how good your GK is that's important and how good your midfield is that's important.

Yes I won't say a QF showing is inconsequential, however, getting there once shows that it is an aberration. Compare that to consistent performances to get to the 2nd round.

Nigeria doesn't glorify mediocrity. Cup or nothing. No African team can still be compared to our 1994 and 1998 teams. The team that eliminated us either gets to the finals or win the cup.

Modern Brazil team can’t do much without Neymar
However I think G. Jesus should fill that role behind the striker because he drops back a lot

2002 Brazil team is the best squad their country ever produced.
It had 4 ballon d’or winners in there
Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho & Kaka.

I can also remember Cafu, Roberto Carlos in that squad.

When bitter leaf soup enter bad belle… na purging o

TheSuperNerd:
The whole point of that post is Addo's playing approach is not one to be impressed with. Man is more about negative football and Park bus tactics to grind out a result and use those results to justify his approaches. Very distasteful. He will be much properly exposed eventually.

He did it against Nigeria in Abuja and escaped with a ticket. Did it in Accra too. Did it vs Portugal. He is riding his luck.

Anyway, Ghana for Accra after the Uruguay game and if they shame me and make that round of 16 by mistake... Ahhh.... the manner in which they will be booted out won't be funny coz Brazil will absolutely annihilate those akwaaba crooners.

But hopefully they will be spared such by Uruguay grin coz Uruguay will knock them out. wink

Bravo, let’s pay off Peseiro and get serious for once.

TheSuperNerd:
Look, we have Amunike who is doing decently at Zanaco FC in Zambia. Hired as their technical consultant to the Coaching Crew of the side and with their team on a poor run of results, he has helped turned thingd around.

He came in around late September and from 1st October till date, Zanaco has only lost once in 10 games.

Pre-Amunike, they were on a run of 5 losses in 12 league games.

Let us take a cue from Morocco... They picked up Walid Regragui from Wydad. They looked inwards and picked a coach that knows the lads. They kicked out Vahid who was having issues with Ziyech and Morocco knew they still need Ziyech and chose him over the foreign coach while bringing in a local that knows the players and was willing to play them to their strengths and pick a Tactically balanced side.

If we want the truth, Amunike knows the core of this Squad. Give him the job.

It’s the Americas versus Africans for a place in the round of 16
Senegal v Ecuador
Morocco v Canada
Ghana v Uruguay

Tunisia & Cameroon are out
They definitely can’t get a result against France & Brazil.

Brazil will always struggle without Neymar

You are only partially right.
The 1970 world cup team was the best football team in history
Also the 1982 team comes close for sheer footballing artistry even though they did not win.
This is the reason Brazil will always be respected in football.
They thought the world attacking football

The best cause they beat Argentina playing rugby football and back pass. Their style of play caused FIFA to change the back pass rule till date. No African team like the 1994 Nigerian team. 5th best in the world!

Yea no African team like the 94 team. But at the end of the day result is all that matters. The 94 squad couldn't make it past round of 16.
