What did he do with the talent at his disposal?

We are talking system here, you are talking talent. Like Odunayaw said a coach cannot perform better than the system he adopts.

Give him Mbappe, Coman, Griezmann and watch them tiki from one side of the pitch and then taka to the other side.

In this world cup France had the most direct and sharpest attack. No be to dey shift from side to side like the dance of a weary old woman.

Go and enquire about Luis Enrique's MSN (Messi, Suarez and Neymar) and the wonderful attacking display they made.

Entertain yourself small. Study it and you might learn a thing or two.

Comparing club with national team. What did he do with the talents at his disposal in the national team? Abi Gavi, Rodri, Pedri, Busquets no be talent?

If they had gotten to the final now, you will be here singing how excellent they are, praising Enrique to high heavens.

This is not about Enrique and the Spanish Wastrels.

Didier Deschamps is a good coach. Shikena

I never said Deschamps is not a good coach. I said he lacks the tactical acumen to make the most of the offensive players at his disposal.

Na wa, Gavi, Pedri, Busquets, and Rodri are midfielders. I am talking of making the most of offensive forwards.

oga stop talking trash. He lacks tactical acumen but guided France to a World Cup triumph four years ago and almost repeated same feat just yesterday with a depleted and inexperienced squad if not for Messi and Argentina

Abi u think say em east to make the World Cup finals back to back?

Why do you like constructing unverifiably uninteresting hypotheticals possible only on Fifa? If he had? The players wey him get no be players? And he still got kicked out by Morocco, despite having a superior team.
Shame no dey catch you. cheesy grin. A team plays at the finals and lost narrowly on penalties, but you still get mind to tell us they played bland footie.
TheGoodJoe:

That is the point. Give Enrique Mbappe, Coman and Dembele and watch him light this tournament with brilliant displays. In this case, with the talent at Deschamps disposal his team still were playing bland footie and could not take the game to Argentina.

As I watched Messi lift the world cup, I mused to myself: where is Mikel?

Why do this guys give our players who are in the same bracket with them so much gap in a matter of years?

I respectfully disagree, Messi is like a spirit, what my people call alujonu. I think it's unfair to compare both, also there was a certain Ryan Babbell, in the same U20 for the dutch but he's also gone into oblivion. Do you know that Zabaleta, Gago, Ezekiel Garay, Biglia were also part of that U20 squad for Argentina, same as Aguero although Aguero was forced unfortunately to stop playing. Other notable non Nigerians in the tournament were Ibrahim Afellay, Rom Vlaar, david Silva, Albio, Fernando Llorente, Fabregas, radamel Falcao, senderos etc. Respect to players like Messi, Ronaldo it's not easy to maintain that longevity and be continually described as GOATs.

The same person who will argue to no end that Spain plays spectacular football is the one saying that France plays bland football.

I thought we could discuss objectively but I see he's driven by his preferences. Until yesterday I never liked Mbappe. I saw him more as an athlete than a footballer but yesterday I saw that Mbappe is not just a footballer, he is a great footballer. I put my prejudice aside.

Person reach finals and even though from the onset he got his tactics wrong, he course corrected and gave us the world cup finals of our lives. Yet a theoretical analyst (yes, we all theoretical analysts) say he lacks tactical acumen but he's a good coach. How person one take be good coach if he lacks tactical acumen?

France under Deschamps:
Euro 2016 finalist
World cup winners 2018
Euro 2021 second round
Qatar WC 2022 finalists

Frank Lebeouf said that the head of the French FA told Deschamps if he gets to the Semi, it's on him to decide if he wants to continue as head coach.

But my brother thegoodjoe wey me and him dey naija hia say Deschamps should be excused.

Julien Laurens, a French journalist who is a regular on ESPN with Frank Lebeouf mentioned all the young players in the French team with great future and said that is why Deschamps will stay, that if Deschamps is not stupid (his exact words) he can see that with all players missing(he mentions Pogba, Kante, Benzema) , France was still the second best team of the tournament.

The French are wiser. They know better. A man is judged by results not theories.

I think Acuna played really well. I doubt Lisandro could replicate that energy i saw in Acuna for such a grand stage like tonight's.

I don't think they concede two with Lisandro.

Otamendi will not have been alone with Kolo.

Mbappe wouldn't have had so much space for second.
