The Super Eagles need CBs who are comfortable with the ball at their feet and in the buildup phase and Midfielders who can ball-play, dictate and easily recycle possession when needed to give us grounds in the first, second and even third phases of Buildup plays. This way, our attack can be utilised in ways we haven't even exploited. Ball-comfort traits in our lads from defence to midfield will afford us different angles of attack in the final third. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Lol... His Physicality is what interests me. Not so sure about his ball playing. Igoh Ogbu holds great promise in the ball playing aspect. Played Libero/Sweeper for Lillestrøm at the heart of a back 3. I have high hopes for him and hopefully he fulfills his potentials. Torunarigha is off and on. But what choice do we have? I will also give him a look in. What do you think of Marvin Ekpiteta at Blackpool and Ajibola Alese at Sunderland? ChrisKels: 1 Like 1 Share |

His ability to slot into a back 3 and back 4 comfortably while also being ball-playingly proficient makes him a must-invite in the near future for the Super Eagles. And like it or not, this ball playing ability is what keeps CBs like Awaziem on the lips and radar of folks like myself even though I never hid my disappointment in his step down move to Croatia. Danielnino00:I don't understand his point, the boy and his father thought he was good enough for England which is understandable considering the little hype he was getting at Wolves. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 2:09pm On Jan 13, 2023 |
He makes the occasional own goal but that doesn't remove from his quality on the ball. Leon Balogun have also had is shaky moments in the GWG (e.g. vs Madagascar, vs CAR in Lagos) but even you will agree that his ball-playing and ball carrying is not in question. A Fit Balogun was easily our best well rounded CB both in defensive actions and in the ball playing aspects. I have seen even better press-resistant players have their bad days as well. Doesn't dent their ball playing or press-resistant qualities. In the Super Eagles today, minus every uncapped option Awaziem has the best passing range and Long sight Vision among SE CBs and his carriage forwards when in possession is one that should not be dismissed. Watch this clip below from 0.24 and tell me which SE CB today has the same passing range Prowess & Vision as Awaziem. This is routine for this man. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoibBOMcZyk Among our current CB options, I have only seen Calvin Bassey attempt and complete a progressive pass this long and this accurate while he was at Rangers. No, I mean what qualities do you like in the lad that you feel are relevant to what we need at the back. I have seen you talk up Ndah a little before. His Sassuolo move? I didn't report it but I guess it's still at the talking stage or maybe has gone cold? Time will tell. It's still a long way to the 31st. ChrisKels: 1 Like |

With respect to the bolded, you see, it is easy to just reel out names. But I want people to be able to analyse and break down a little on what actual qualities these "mentioned" players are gonna bring to the SE. We have invited so much based on the spur of the moment and based on the Popular shallow view of "Leagues" but have we critically assessed what qualities they bring and check if it is protagonistic or antagonistic to the team plays? Easy to name... But the truth lies in the holistic analytical dissection of each player as an option. A team isn't built on names. It is built on Chemistry from Tactical and Technical Viewpoints. I saw him at the Afcon in the 14mins+ he played and was actually impressed with his Composure on the ball. Not bringing out the bells, gungho, for him yet but he does have the potential to become a very reliable ball playing CB. I also believe he can act comfortably as a Sweeper if need be in a 3 man backline. He has potentials and traits I am impressed with but I am still watching. No full conclusions drawn yet. elyte89: 1 Like 1 Share |
