Belgian First Division A side Royal Antwerp have completed the signing of highly-rated Nigerian defender Junior Pius.

Pius has inked a four-year contract with Royal Antwerp and the deal comes with a club option for the 2023-2024 campaign.

The 23-year-old center back has spent the last six years of his career in Portugal, first representing the youth teams of Porto followed by spells at Aves, Cesarense, Sanjoanense, Tondela and Paços de Ferreira.

In his first words as a player of Royal Antwerp, Pius said to the club's official website : '''I am really happy, it's one of the happiest days of my life because I have made a step up.

''I will be competing in the first division in Belgium and the Europa League qualifiers so it is a big step. I'm really happy about that.

''Ivo Rodrigues, we were together in the pre-season of Porto so I know him very well.

''I am tough, I am hard when I need to be and I also love to play.''

Royal Antwerp finished fourth in the Belgian First Division A last season.

Qualified #NGA for round of 16 at Nations Cup with 1 game to spare

Take a bow Mr Rohr

Well said. It is typical of Naija fans (especially the big mouthed ones) to not know what they have unitl they no longer have it.

Tunisia last march was scrab
no thanks to their goal keeper....

I am happy that they're not a strong side...
hopefully we get to avoid Egypt until the finals...then anything can happen.

I am just praying for Rohr to get his first 11 right...then we are good to go....

Aina on switching allegiance from England to Nigeria'

"You have to give it to others who took same path(Moses,Iwobi,Aluko,Ameobi) they blazed a trail and made others like me think as well," he added.
"The biggest thing about this decision is once you come into the circle you feel the togetherness, the passion and family atmosphere. Positive vibes in the dressing room and great banter.
"I hope others will come along. It's a personal decision and it's paid off so far. We take it step by step, supporting each other and it's showing on the pitch.

I have always rated Morocco since before the Russia 2018 WC. I remember tagging them my second favorite African team going to Russia after the Super Eagles. I just love their football and players quality.

But shaa, game is still early. CIV with Pepe are just one chance or FK setpiece from a goal. Zaha is on the bench and can change a game too. But in all, just like you, I see the Atlas Lions overcoming the Elephants.

Not a bad move at all for the 1.93m tall CB, Junior Pius.

From Portuguese Second tier (Ledman liga pro) to Belgian Jupiler League (1st tier). smiley
