was discussing with a friend yesterday...
the NFF and the coaches are the primary reason why we loose this boys...

remember some years back Tammy was then in bristol city just getting to start...

I made a tweet on the NFF page citing the need for the NFF to get Tammy and co play for the super eagles... could you believe Tammy liked that twitt...I can't remember if he tweeted it though. and I check very well it was his verified account.....

we miss out on this guys because we have always act like milipead because no currency notes will be get into our pockets should we proceed wit getting this player's....

some Nigerians will only proceed to do the right thing only when money is involved and they will get something in return... and unfortunately this folks are the majority in government MDAs, Ministeries and even the NFF.....

it is so painful...

I am more interested with the hundreds of home based talents who can do what Tammy and Co are doing overseas if we nurture, Educate and develop our football here at home. The loss from our home based talents far exceeds Tammy at Chelsea.

Pinnick should work on developing a home based footie program.

I think best for the job should be Emmanuel Amunike. He should scout and raise a home based U20 team from a thorough Nationwide systematic screening process. Train the selected team of about 30 boys in high level possession football and let them play friendly matches against home teams during the International breaks.

When Amunike feels the boys are ready, we can start touring with them to play international U23 clubsides. This will give the boys exposure and later, some will be snapped by clubs and increase our pool massively.

Later a televised friendly between these boys and the Super Eagles.

It is not only looking for foreign boys. We are losing a great deal at home.

I tire O!

It is frightening we have money to fly players from Europe to train with the U17, U20 and U23 teams but we do not have money for proper grassroot development projects.

We suppose to have tactical train the trainer courses in the country. Imama Amapakabo pointed out the tactical deficiency in our players. Coming from a player who was part of a home based tactical side must have been shocked with gap in the knowledge of our players. I can see Bonfere Jo criticising Imama approaching the game with long balls, forgetting that is the only thing Imama could tell them to play due to their lack of tactical knowledge.

Coaches like Imama, Siasia, Monday Sinclair, Amunike can get facilited to hold coaching clinics periodically for coaches in Nigeria to brush them up. These train the trainer coaches can go on refresher courses from time to time and come back to pass the messages to a large group of coaches.

In turn, our home based players will get better tactical training in the long run.

Nigeria has an under 13 and under 15 program, already. What you are proposing will not go far enough.

The most important thing to do for the development of local talents is having professionally run football teams in our league.

Imagine if all the league teams have well coached/structured academies. You will kill age cheating and export good talent.

Alternatively, we can establish a national under 16 league with players required to pass MRI tests and show their school certificates.

This can be done zonally and then a super 6 in Abuja or Uyo.

Talents from across the country will be found and it will even help national team coaches.

Even if Rohr invites the right people, his poor tactical play will inhibit their potentials. See how Osimhen was at the AFCON.

We need thorough overhaul of our system. Unfortunately, I doubt Rohr has the knowledge to meet up tactically with the modern game.

His negative tactics even hinders his selection. That is why he preferred Shehu to Ebuehi.

Brilliant addition but keep in mind they could go on simultaneously. The under 16 players will need like 7 to 8 years before breaking into quality clubs and produce high quality Super Eagles players. The other will bring out players in 2-3years that will be challenging for places.

The most important thing is the source for funds and channelling it towards these projects should be going on than folding our hands and waiting for some players to perform miracles in Europe to fight for.

The mistake we will make is underestimating not performing with not knowing. Imama Amapakabo pointed out the deficiency and how difficult it was to pass his message. Meaning he knows but will need time to train and develop the team to play to his philosophy.

So instead of passing this to a small group of boys, passing it to a group of coaches will go a long way in passing the message.

Either way, Pinnick has left a big gap in the home based sector and needs to work to sort it out to increase the Super Eagles pool by an exponential rate.

First of all you need to update your approach.

Globalisation has changed everything, that's why we have a brain drain in nearly every field of endeavour.

The modern approach is not necessarily competition but synergy. In otherwords how can we take advantage of strategic partnerships and cooperative agreements to create value for ourselves.

The sole responsibility for football development does not rest with the NFF. It's a partnership with local league and football clubs working in unison. In this regard the NFF is an enabler creating the framework and support to enhance football development. They can not do it by themselves.

In England as it is across Europe what you have is the local grass root youth teams from age 5/6. These teams are administered by the local county FA 's, who are in turn supported but not necessarily controlled and or Financed by the FA.

These local teams are the nursery farms from which the best seedlings ( young infant players) are selected to different football academies across the league system in England.

The EPL clubs generally attracting the cream of the crop.

This is where in general talent and potential are nurtured, developed and trained to become top professional players.

The Nigerian league system does not collectively and comprehensively seek out young youthful talents for thier academies to graduate to first team football.

In the past thier were football competitions from high school level from where the best talents were selected. That level went right to local villages and local government areas before proceeding to the finals. That system seems to have died in Nigeria. But unfortunately without a any alternative to take up the gaps.

What we have instead is a plethora of football academies of differing quality some very very poor and some good. but the entire motivation of the privately owned academies is to make money by selling these players to Europe based teams. And they have positioned themselves in the gap.

That business model is underpined with slave contracts, TPI and age cheating.

Until there is a partnership with a collective vision not based on quick profit and treating players as commodities. We will remain where we are.

That partnership will start with village primary and secondary schools, proceed to local government capitals and state capitals.

This is why in times past the former Bendel state was ruling football in Nigeria for many years particularly at youth level. The partnership of grass roots football through school competitions that were well funded by the state governments not the NFA at the time.

Until there is buy in too strategic partnering with the LGA, State government to institute and organise a well funded structure through school competitions to enhance football development. Which the NFF has to facilitate and support,, we will REMAIN where we are.

That's the foundation before we even begin to look at our local league NPFL that seems to be dead on its feet. Poorly funded and patronised. As a consequence they local professional football clubs in Nigeria seem to play lip service to youth football development in thier academies.

Did you read develop football in Nigeria?

The under 17 is minute to the kind of exports we could have if we focused on correcting the ills in our local football.

By the way, Rohr is not doing anything special that an indigenous coach wouldn't have done. He is just overhyped because he is white.

With all the talent at his disposal, he should be doing more. But for now, maybe we should give him 2more years to make something out of these boys.

For this to happen, the NFF needs to sit up to its responsibility and begin work. They need to come up with the strategic plan, develop the framework and supervise its implementation.

This is not the only frontier. There is so much work needed to get done to continue with the merry go round and lack of direction.

We have some gaps that need immediate tackling. The one pointed out by Imama could easily get handled while we are working on our long term projects.

The train the trainer/refresher courses for coaches that will train local league and academy coaches is one. The home based support team project is another. This the NFF can form and can give an immediate impact.

Taking the U17 process and making it a bigger program to have long term training process and maybe competitions is another.

Worst is folding arms and doing nothing.

Update: QPR Ebere Eze Doesn’t Need FIFA Clearance To Play For Nigeria Despite Representing England U20
Per the rules governing the eligibility of a player to play for another country without requiring FIFA’s permission to switch, QPR Ebere Eze doesn’t need to go through the process if he decide to play for the Super Eagles, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
This portal yesterday ran a story base on reports from the side of coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr who insisted that the player need his switch of allegiance to be confirmed by FIFA before he is eligible to play for Nigeria after representing England at U20 level.
The report is however not true as Eze, who is viewed as one of the best midfielders in the English Championship represented England in a friendly tournament organised by the German FA and not UEFA as posted by this portal yesterday.
Eze has played seven matches for the U20 of England, four in the 8 team Elite League competition organised by the German FA and three in friendly games. He has twice made the bench in FIFA/UEFA organised tournament but didn’t get to play.

A line from the guidelines by FIFA for players switch of allegiance stated clearly that a player will require approval to switch nationality only if he has played in an official tournament, the section is quoted below.
Principle of National Team Eligibility
Article 5.1 states: “Any person holding a permanent nationality that is not dependent on residence in a certain country is eligible to play for the representative teams of the association of that country.” The terms of this rule prevent temporary residents who are not otherwise citizens of the relevant country being considered eligible.

Article 5.1 further adds: “…any player who has already participated in a match (either in full or in part) in anofficial competition of any category or any type of football for one association may not play an international match for a representative team of another association.” The term “official competition” refers to matches played for representative teams in competitions organised by FIFA or any confederation (i.e. not friendly games).

Therefore it’s safe to say if Eze requires any form of switch before playing for Nigeria it won’t be tedious and time consuming like the case was with Ola Aina which took twelve months but it will be like that of Alex Iwobi whose switched was done swiftly because he only played for England youth team at friendly level.

The first and only thing Rohr thinks of, is Defence, Defence, Defence. I mean, what happens to ATTACKING the enemy?

He only plays to hit the enemy at the counter while soaking in the pressure. Reason why we always conceded goals.

We have a bursting attacking minded young lads, fast wingers, skillful legs in Iwobi and Aribo, great defensive legs who can push forward in Aina and Ebuehi, yet all we do is wait for the enemy to attack and then counter.

This is a perfect way to waste your potentials.

Ex Nigeria U17 Goalkeeper Could Gatecrash Super Eagles Squad For AFCON Qualifiers After Impressing In Israel

As coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr continue his search for more options in goal for the Super Eagles of Nigeria to abate the goalkeepers crisis rocking the team, former Nigeria U17 goalkeeper Adebayo Adeleye is one of the options available.

With regular first choice of the senior national team of Nigeria Francis Uzoho injured, Rohr has expanded his search for new goalkeepers to make up for his absence with just Maduka Okoye and Ikechukwu Ezenwa the only options available to him as the coach appears to have closed the door on Daniel Akpeyi despite his recent fine form for Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa.

19 year old Adeleye plays for second division Isreal side Hapoel Katamon, who are third on the table and so far he has played in all of their league games this season with three clean sheets to his name.

Rohr has reportedly posted his scouts to watch the goalkeeper and if the reports turns out to be positive he will be called up to the team for upcoming AFCON 2021 Qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho respectively.

A member of the 2017 Under-17 team of Nigeria that failed to qualify for the Africa U17 Cup of Nations and subsequently the World Youth Championship, he has grown in leaps and bound since arriving Israel a year ago.

His move to the country where legendary Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama started his career abroad was facilitated by Israeli agent David Ouziel and the player rose through to the youth ranks to the first team.

He should have used his right. In such situations where the ball is coming from the left you use your right foot because it in a far better position and balance to steer the ball towards goal with the first touch.

Shows Pepe is not that experienced and lack some shooting intelligence.

I guess you want all the young lads in the squad to start defeating all teams,it will take time cause they are from different teams with different styles of play. The popular Belgium team wasn't exceptional in the last euros, even with their squad depth, the player then developed further with their clubs and the last world cup was memorable for them.. we have to ask ourselves this question,Are our precious prospects at the peak of their careers in Europe...it's a big No..our favourite boy chukwueze is finding it very hard to make the match day squad at Villarreal because of is inability to dictate games with goals..And you all feel is the work of the national coach to get the best out of someone he doesn't not train with daily. we can only criticise him when our top players move to bigger European clubs and are not reciprocating their forms in the national team.

Many people on this thread always bringing up their fact that rohr is not taking us to where we ought to be and we don't have a style of play, But still yet you don't want him to understand the players he has at hand and look for better and accommodating style for them.
You people are always insisting new players to be added to the team always, since last month it was Eze and since last week ejaria has been popping up, I want to ask, so if Nigeria was to have 10 dual citizen Ansu fati we will invite all into the team right?
please let's don't forget the fact that experience and maturity also helps when it comes to winning trophies.
I strongly believe the NFF has all these names on their desk and we will work with the gaffer to know who will be needed for his project.

Arsenal Wenger or anyone of his grade will not accept to coach Nigeria, with all the offers in Europe coming for them..it can't work.

I later said any tactical foreign coach.....
will do better

Did you read develop football in Nigeria?

The under 17 is minute to the kind of exports we could have if we focused on correcting the ills in our local football.

By the way, Rohr is not doing anything special that an indigenous coach wouldn't have done. He is just overhyped because he is white .

sir you mean indigenous coaches like imama? ??
c'mon Rohr is miles ahead of that guy .

in transparency and even tactically.

rohr have been slightly fair like 60-70% in players selection I doubt we'll ever achieve that with an indigenous coach

What the hell is wrong with rohr?

Therefore it’s safe to say if Eze requires any form of switch before playing for Nigeria it won’t be tedious and time consuming like the case was with Ola Aina which took twelve months but it will be like that of Alex Iwobi whose switched was done swiftly because he only played for England youth team at friendly level.
we have to take our time when it comes to bringing him into the national team.
he must be fully cleared..to avoid CAF from reducing our points in Afcon qualifications.with facts that we fielded an ineligible player..By then many will start raining curses on NFF and rohr.
This situations can be tricky even in club tournaments.
