Hibiscus Sabdariffa, commonly known as roselle, hibiscus tea or zobo is a popular flower-like drink served in tea or juice form. It is also used in preparing raw salads etc. It contains no caffeine and has a unique taste making it a super drink. It is made up of many organic acids like tartaric acid, citric acid, cyanidin,delphinine and lots more.


Health Benefits Of Hibiscus Tea

1. It Reduces High Blood Pressure

Hibiscus tea contains anti-hypertensive properties which helps to reduce blood pressure drastically. This anti-hypertensive properties prevents the oxidation of low-density lipoproteins; a substance in our blood that if increased beyond normal quantities may cause high blood pressure.

2. It Is Essential For Weight Loss

An enzyme known as amylase is behind the the absorption of carbohydrate in the body which may may lead to weight gain. According to research, hibiscus tea inhibits the further production of amylase thereby minimizing the the carbohydrate and sugar levels.So if you want to drop some pounds, i recommend you to start taking it frequently from now on.

3. It Soothes Thirst

Hibiscus tea can be drunk hot or cold. As iced tea, the infusion is known to soothe thirst quite effectively. It is often recommended as an alternative to artificially made commercial "sport drinks" that are marketed to physically active individuals. It's ability to cool the body is well documented by cultures that include it in their diet or medicinal practices. This benefit is probably associated with the diuretic properties of hibiscus, a property that helps in the excretion of excess fluids from the body.

5. It also improves the ability of the kidney to flush at waste products like uric & oxalic acid which when in high levels, leads to kidney stone.

6. It is made up of antibacterial properties which help to kill bacteria and worms in the body.

7. It is made up of calcium, iron, riboflavin, carotene which are all essential for the proper functioning of the body.

8. It is very rich in vitamin c , making it a perfect remedy to fight off cold and it's infections.

NOTE : Hibiscus tea is NOT ideal for pregnant women, lactating mothers and should never be taken in high dose because it might affect your kidney.

Everything written here is true. Zobo + exercise makes a better, healthier you. I also hear it boosts the immune system and prevents infections however since that's not an external thing I can't fully put a guarantee to the claim.
