Very myopic IMHO. Many of the things we enjoy today are products of the hard work of PhDs and not necessary business people. PhDs solve extremely hard problems and contribute to the body of knowledge in their disciplines. PhDs are now translating their research into startups, case in point Google. Doctors are another rare breed of people. It is not easy to commit 7-10 years of your life on Medical School. Advances in Medicine is the reason why life expectancy as improved over the last century.

But that is beside the point.

Doctors, PhDs and others do very important jobs that the businessmen and the general public depend on.

Businessmen's kids will be taught by PhDs at university.

It shouldn't be all about money and car you ride.
