Contrary to claim by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and the Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr Ibe Kachikwu that scarcity will end in Lagos on Wednesday, marketers have stated that scarcity cannot end in Lagos or any other city this week. In a telephone conversation with the Nigerian Tribune on Wednesday, one of the marketers who preferred anonymity argued that scarcity cannot end this week in Lagos or any other city because the volume available for distribution is 25,000 metric tonnes. According to him, “except the NNPC scales up its importation, fuel scarcity may not end soon as claimed by the government. “The corporation just received another 25,000 metric tonnes on Monday which is about 65 million litres. The cargo was distributed to major marketers and NIPCO plc.” He added that “although, the government is doing all it could to end scarcity and I can assure Nigerians that if it continues with constant importation of more cargoes, then maybe by next week, all the queues will disappear.” However, a visit by the Nigerian Tribune to Apapa depot on Wednesday revealed that massive loading of premium motor spirit (PMS) otherwise called petrol, was ongoing as all depots visited were loading. Depots visited include Mobil, Conoil, Forte, MRS, NIPCO and Aiteo. It may be recalled that Kachikwu told Nigerians that scarcity will persist until May, which resulted into severe criticism from Nigerians including the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu. This has forced the Minister of State to apologise and pledged to end scarcity by 7 April, 2016. www.tribuneonlineng.com/fuel-scarcity-wont-end-this-week-marketers |

Buhari had better sit up.. what's all this nonsense. It's annoying. The country which you currently head is the largest crude producer on the continent yet common fuel you cannot provide for your fellow citizens and you are the Minister of Petroleum Resources. Kachikwu is saying one thing today, tomorrow he's singing a different tune. Are we serious in this nation at all? Do we have leaders?? Do we have a President? Do we still have a government in this country? Do we still have NLC and other allied groups?? Why this noisy silence?? Sleeping at fuel stations is now the new normal. wtf is going??!! 1 Like |

The best thing will be to build resefvoirs is several cities where massob or IPOB or MEND can not access them, import enough fuel and redistribute if / when it's getting scarce |

DaBullIT:Wouldn't they move crude from those regions via pipe lines to other states? Don't you think that the pipe lines will be vandalized by militant? Would it make sense to set up industry far from raw material? All these questions will give you clue on whether it's a wise decision or not |
