vingeophysicist: Omonile is only in Lagos and some parts of Ogun State. In south south states except Edo, their own omonile thugs are worse. At least Lagos guys can still negotiate in thousands (100k to 300k). These omonile criminals in the SS (notoriously Rivers state) will kidnap you if you don't pay millions for what they call "marching ground" and "drinking money". Those engineers who supervise village projects for oil communities face even worse life threatening conditions from the local thugs. Even ordinary tenants that are struggling to pay rent must still pay "drinking money". Maybe you don't know this cos you are still living in your father's house. Lazy bigot. 15 Likes |

vingeophysicist: I thought you said it only happens in Yorubaland. So the SS community heads who send armed boys to collect money from strangers building in their town don't see it as their right? Your version of omonile is criminal. They kidnap Engineers who don't have the complete money to settle you people. Even when banks offer to help communities by providing infrastructure, your people storm the sites with guns demanding to share the money instead of wasting it on the project. Engineers hardly complete projects in SS because of your people. But your focus is on far away Yorubaland. Quit being a bigot. 14 Likes |

Omonile is everywhere ooo, in some places in Anambra, omonile fees are higher than the cost of the land. Its official . u get receipt for the payment and can even do search on the receipt like its a title doc. I think one should get an estimate of the omonile fees b4 even buying land. U shld ask ur neighbours so the omoniles don't take u 4 granted as a mugu. Another thing ppl experience is - when you roof your house. You are happy you have almost finished without knowing u have done only 50% of the work. The next stages are very annoying. U spend money without seeing when the money went. The wires are buried. Pipes are buried.. Etc 6 Likes |

Bro I am surprised you can argue with that unnecessary bigot with a myopic brain. Please leave them to their foolishness, like you said everybody that worked in PH city know the millions they collect for drink money and marching ground, even tenants pay landlord drink money. They are so backward that they prefer to collect/share money meant for development. That region is terrible so please leave them to their ignorance. AfroKnight: 3 Likes |

Then after going through this kind of stress, you finally get a tenant, that refuses to pay his rent and still has the guts to take you to court. SmH 1 Like |

Well written by an experienced guy. You forgot to mention petty theft on site by workers, mutiny by site workers against site engineer, workers mixing less amounts of aggregates per bag of cement in order to get more pay if based on number of bags mixed, and their conspiracy on site to for, central u to pay more per day by unanimously agreeing not to work or allow new workers enter the site. It is terrible while it lasts but of great joy when the house is done and u move in. 2 Likes |

Long and short of the story: Get a Civil Engineer or Builder, preferably an experienced one. If you dont know one, contact friends who can recommend one for you. And open up to him about what you want as against what you have. He would be able to advise on the way to go and save you lots of hassles, both construction wise and financially. Too many people (unfortunately due to the harsh economic situation) would.want to shunt many construction processes to save cost or cut corners, in the end the amount they spend repairing mistakes or building wrongly, end up being more than they ever expected. 1 Like 1 Share |

mavverick: There are Brazilian Tiles and they are very durable, long lasting but mostly costly and hard to get (scarce). Spanish tiles remain the best though, and some varieties of special tiles from United Arab Emirates. |
