Scholarship Description
The Government of the People's Republic of China has placed at the disposal of UNESCO for the academic year 2016-2017, under the co-sponsorship of UNESCO, seventy-five (75) fellowships for advanced studies at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

These UNESCO/People’s Republic of China (The Great Wall) fellowships are for the benefit of developing Member States in Africa, Asia–Pacific, Latin America, Europe and North America and Arab region.

The UNESCO/China Fellowships, tenable at a selected number of Chinese universities, are in most cases to be conducted in English. In exceptional cases, candidates may be required to study Chinese language before taking up research/study in their fields of interest.

Eligibility
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and in good health.

Selection Criteria:
Qualifications required:

Hold at least the Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent, or the Master's Degree/above;
English proficiency is required;
Be not more than 45 years of age; and
Be in good health, both physically and mentally.

Fields of Study
Any applicant can choose one academic program and three institutions as their preferences from the Chinese Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) designated by MOE. Fellowships are for advanced studies at Undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Please visit the official web page of China Scholarship Council (CSC) for the fields of proposed studies at the selected chinese universities

Number of awards
Seventy five (75) fellowships offered to the most qualified at undergraduate and postgraduate levels

Sponsorship duration
One (1) year duration

Scholarship benefits
The Program provides a FULLY-funded scholarship covering registration and tuition fees, accommodation, monthly allowance, a one-time settlement subsidy, a one-time inter-city travel ticket (each for coming in and leaving China), International travel to and from China, and a comprehensive medical insurance and Protection Scheme. No allowance to finance or lodge married couples or family members will be granted.

Method of Application
All applications should be endorsed by the relevant Government body (the National Commission or Permanent Delegation) and must be made in English with the requested attachments (application forms, photo, notarized photocopies, university pre-admission letter, etc etc).

Complete the online application procedure at the Chinese Scholarship Council online application for international students at: http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua/noticeen.html, (Agency number 00001) and download the second application form on the top of the right column of the official scholarship webpage. (both should be sent).

The fellowship Announcement Letter was published on 4th April 2016, and the deadline for all applications is 20th May 2016

Candidates not informed of their selection by 31 July 2016 should consider that their applications have not been approved.
