this is nonsense again. The aim of the program was to boost the economy . . . give people incentives to spend money and thus stimulate the economy. The reason the first Bush tax rebates of last yr failed was because people basically pocketed the money or used it to pay down existing debts. Increased consumer spending is a key cog in the wheel of the US economy and that was what the cash for clunkers program was aimed to stimulate.

You spend way too much time saying absolutely nothing and yet pretend you've just dropped a gem.

At her latest town hall she REJECTS the notion of a public option because it will require tax dollars, then proposes a TAX CREDIT for those who cannot afford insurance. Well doesnt that same tax credit come from the tax payer?

When asked directly why she was against a government-run program, Jenkins laughed and said, "A government-run program is going to subsidize not only yours but everybody in this room. So I'm not sure what we're talking about here."

I dont think Jenkins understands how the Government option plan works, it wont be like a tax credit to EVERYBODY, it will simply lower the costs for every so that even those who are poor can afford health insurance. That's the goal.

Jenkins idea of tax credits does absolutely nothing but add more dollars to the pockets of HMOs. For a family who pay $15,000 per yr on health insurance plus deductibles . . . what will a $5000 tax credit do?
