What does she want us to do with this admission when the deed is already done??
There is no admission of guilt in her statement. She merely stated what she has always said: That the governors and some members of political parties frustrated the efforts of her and the executive to save for the future. The only thing she did was to leave that part out. It is inconsequential to mention the names of Fashola and Amaechi in a lecture at an American College

So, when Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala talks about Nigerians having zero will to save, who are we to blame? Goodluck Jonathan, Governors?

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was the Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

She was in the driving seat to direct the Nigerian Government. During a windfall, the person who was to save the money, dip her hands in the reserves, without the knowledge of those who owned the money.

She went on to deceive people that the FAAC backed it but later the FAAC denied her claims.

She shifted to GEJ that he ordered her to withdraw from the ECA to pay for Subsidies.

That was where we lost the wheel to save. Our Crude Sales were mismanaged during a time of plenty and we resorted to paying for Subsidy from the ECA.

She was the one to find a way and show to Nigerians that we were to save but she was the one who first dipped her hands into the ECA without appropriation.
Did follow the drama then, do u know how Amechi and Oshimole went to court for that ECA? Don say what you don't know.

Your madam didn't blame govs because she knows only a dull child will do that. Rather she apportioned blame properly thus...

LACK OF POLITICAL WILL

Pls learn from her honesty because governors also wanted her to share it under OBJ

Una don start bah?

NOI talked about LACK OF WILL , check the meaning & "USAGE" before trying to engage in discuss far above your comprehension....

Amaechi, The all powerful arm twisted the 52% federal share out of Hero IB's control as well?

Like the ECA is even constitutional... undecided

Abegiii, exit stage left with your Amaechi induced Paranoia.......
That Propaganda against Amaechi is getting stale. Govs forum was even dominated by pdp govs, so why single out Amaechi? Even at that, why was fg under gej drawing from the savings without appropriate approval from nass? and they turn around to blame Amaechi. Hatred just blocks clear reasoning.

Did you read what I wrote?

NOI talked about the WILL TO SAVE.
She took money from the ECA without appropriation and behind the backs of the Governors. That is where the Governors lost the WILL to save because the Coordinating Minister of the Economy did not have the WILL to save.

She could not think of an avenue to pay for the Subsidies, despite us in plenty.

If you enter agreement with your business partner to save for a big deal. Then you find out your partner took money from the savings, will you have the WILL to continue saving?

Obama is currently being denied his right to nominate and confirm a supreme court judge, by the Republican congress. Will you hold Obama responsible for that. Remember the President was forced by a judgement from a federal high court to release the funds.

No one said Obama lacked the will to nominate.

Here, NOI is saying there was no political will to save. Meaning, the government did not take saving seriously.

That's because GEJ touched the money. How can you taste the cake and ask others not to?

It is so unimaginable that folks are ever ready to blame everyone that served under Goodluck Jonathan except GEJ himself. My question: What was GEJ doing in the Presidency?

Everything that happened was because of GEJ's incompetence and his subordinates used that weakness against him--never had the lack of respect for a sitting President been so apparent.

If the governors were ready to spend their own share, what happened to the 52% share of the Federal government.
Truth is the governors observed that FG was tampering with the savings, and the only way out is to seek to take their own share.

Obama has already nominated Merrick Garland, but the Congress has refused to give him a hearing, not to talk of a confirmation. In 1989 President George Bush Snr got elected on the basis that he would cut taxes, but when the congress became dominated by Democrats, they made sure that he could not accomplish this. At the next election, he lost to Bill Clinton, for failing to fulfil his promise. Did he lack political will. Infact he went on live tv shortly after his election, and stated the famous "READ MY LIPS, NO NEW TAXES" speech. Governance is not a bed of roses

Did the court ask anyone to share the ECA

Why was the FG constantly dipping hands into that purse if they didn't want the state to ask for some of the action??

You can hold them accountable for overplaying their hand, and for failing to understand that economic development without mastery of politics is a recipe for disaster. The Goodluck administration tried and did deliever, but failed to play politics the right way

OBJ saved even with pressure from governors because there was the political will.

There was no political will in GEJ regime. This is coming from a person who served as the finance minister for both parties.

This explains it all. OBJ was pressured and taken to court by governors to share this money, Yaradua was also pressured to release this money. But the first thing GEJ did was to dip his hands into the funds illegally and at that point, he lost the moral right to prevent the governors from accessing the funds, so he shared the yams; GEJ never had any political will to save. I pity Buhari, cos he takes all the heat today for indiscretions of yesterday.

Madam Okonjo has just vindicated herself by saying a simple truth which every discerning mind knows. But wailers would be too pained to acknowledge this simple fact. GEJ's inability to assert authority, his economic cluelessness, his nonchalant attitude to graft and his bizarre proliferation of yam sharing ideologies is the reason why Nigeria couldn't save a dime under his reign. A man who unanimously depleted what he met even though he enjoyed the greatest revenue.

NOI messed up herself and her reputation for accepting to work under such an administration. Now no matter how hard she tries to wipe the dirt, the stench still stays with her. I kept asking, is it not this same NOI who saved greatly and did wonders under OBJ, how come she performed in the absolute opposite direction under GEJ?... The answer to this lies in the type of boss she had.

If NOI did not touched it, fought to block leakages at NNPC, tackled wastage, she would have kept the ECA funds safe.

Lying about the Finance Commissioners backing her, without knowing they did not even have such power was smoking gun that nailed their case.

She was to save it and not tamper with it. She caused the Governors to lose the will.

If she did not touch it, they will not look that way.

Both have stubborn governors but they handled it differently.
