Ijawman:

My immediate response is that you check the JAMB website and see where Ekiti (AND INDEED ALL YORUBA STATES) stand in relation to Eastern (Igbo and ND) states
Your proof that "90% of Ekiti certificates are fake"?

And have you any evidence that "90% of certificate holders  in Nigeria did not buy their degree"?

Govt stops Ekiti workers' pay over alleged certificate forgery
From Ifedayo Sayo, Ado-Ekiti

AN industrial crisis is brewing in Ekiti State over the suspension of the July salary of about 3,000 workers over alleged forgery of certificates.

advertisement

Also, the state government has ordered hundreds of workers to repay certain sums of money ranging from N20,000 to about N300,000 as over-payment in their salaries over a period of time.

The development followed the report of the investigation by a consultant appointed by the state government to verify the certificates of workers in the service of the state government.

The consultant who was also saddled with the responsibility of identifying ghost workers in the employment of the state government had in the course of its assignments asked the public servants in the state to produce their primary six and school certificate results.

It carried out a verification of the results with relevant examination bodies and discovered that about 3,000 of the workers had presented fake school leaving certificates.

Acting on the report, the state government, in a letter by the Deputy Accountant General of the state, Mrs. O. O. Owolabi, ordered the salaries of the affected workers to be stopped with immediate effect.

The letter which contained the names of the affected workers and directed to the permanent secretaries of the various ministries and departments reads: "I am directed to kindly inform you to stop the salaries of the underlisted officers with effect from July 2009 until further notice."

For instance, in the Ministry of Local Government and Culture, about five workers had their salaries stopped while in the Ministry of Health, six workers were affected.

Worst hit is the State Teaching Service Commission where hundreds of workers were affected by the order of the state government.

Already, the directive is generating some disquietedness among the workers who saw it as another attempt by the state government to retrench some of its workers.

A top senior civil servant who condemned the stoppage of salaries of the workers said the state government ought to review the report before implementing it.

Ijawman:

Another fabu. Ok I agree. Ekiti students are in the labs where they process Marijuana for consumption. In which universities are the Ekiti students; a state with normadic education as shown in their website? What does JAMB record say about Ekiti state?

So JAMB record is your yardstick? I am not surprised. . . . .People who come from your state have never been known to show any nous.
Y'all are militants. . . . .Violence is the only thing you are special at so lemme start my informal education for you.

Firstly, JAMB record is shit if they cannot tell us the number of students who actually graduate!!!
What is to say the students in your state don't drop out as compared to Ekiti state. . . . .
Besides, how can you compare fuckever place you come from to a state with a low population of 1.7 million.
Work out the ratio of Uni graduates to the state population rather than the actual number of people JAMB is giving you.

294 Ekiti workers may go to jail over fake certificates
From BOLU-OLU ESHO, Ado-Ekiti
Friday, August 7, 2009

More Stories on This Section
Ekiti State Government has disclosed that salaries of 294 workers in the state civil service have been suspended over presentation of fake certificates to gain appointment into the state civil service.

Addressing newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, the state Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Olufemi Adewumi, disclosed that the state had been losing over N7.2 million annually to workers who entered into the service with fake and forged credentials.

Adewumi disclosed that the state government suspected that there were “a lot of irregularities in the payment of salaries in the public service” and a private consulting firm was commissioned by the state government to conduct staff auditing exercise.

Having submitted its interim report, the auditing firm wrote that a total number of 294 workers were discovered to have gained appointment into the state public service with fake certificates.
According to the HOS, “ one hundred of this figure are secondary school teachers while the remaining 194 are from the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).”
On the reception of the interim report, the state government set a committee to verify the allegations of the auditing firm.

Adewumi said: “This committee has invited all officers alleged to have used forged certificates to defend themselves. The committee’s assignment is on-going. No report has been submitted yet by the committee.”
Among other offenders discovered were some officers who were “being overpaid because they had been illegally moved above their normal salary steps resulting in great loss to the government, receiving salaries in multiple pay points; overstay in service as well as those who falsified their dates of birth and dates of first appointment.”

Dismissing the rumour that the auditing exercise was meant to witchhunt some workers due to their alleged attitude during the April 25, 2009 governorship re-run election in the state, the HOS said the exercise had commenced late last year, noting that the exercise was not selective and cut across all levels.
Explaining further, Adewumi said the salaries of the 294 workers were stopped, saying “we can’t be paying them until they prove their innocence.”

He, however, noted that there is every possibility that not all the alleged workers would be fired, noting that some of them may eventually prove their innocence. He noted that “nobody has been asked to withdraw from the public service. Nobody has also been asked to refund any money yet. Verification exercise is still ongoing.”

Nevertheless, among the punitive measures to be taken by the state government were refunding of all the money collected from the purse of the government, dismissal and, ultimately, prosecution.

Certificate qualification does not work in Nigeria. People go to any length just to get the certificates, while mediocrity is still promoted.

China and India have the highest number of graduates. I think even USA will have higher number of graduates (BS, MS, PhD and their equivalents) than Nigeria

u r probably right.
But in regards to output of the knowledge gained, Nigerians graduates have done nothing.
I believe there should be a healthy balance between university and vocational education.
An education that is relevant to what happens in the real world(work place)

Due to their inherent ignorance, I know that your people are not able to differentiate between an Ijaw, an Igbo, a Calabar or an Ogoni; hence everybody across the Niger are Omo Ibo. But this is the 21st century and you of all people should know better.
