Trust me, if u have bin robbed by merciless robbers/cultists (most of whom r underage BTW) you wouldn't be bent on obeying the law. The law doesn't compensate victims of robbery, stealing and other crime. I was robbed 3ce in sch and if I had d chance I'd have done worse to those guys

I get your point. I have relatives who got robbed and seriously maltreated and wounded in their own house. Twice within a year or so. Second one at least was in connivance with their maiguard. Despicable no doubt.

But the law must be obeyed or you will just be breaking the law like the robber did.

This is wrong on all levels...

It might sound absurd neither am i condoling bad beheaviors.

The thief is a minor.

Lack of hope or food have made people steal...do you know if his family was dieing of starvation and he though that was the only hope.

he could have just held the hand while the robber is caught.

You have rendered a man useless.. of what use would he be to the society with just an arm.

He has put another beggar on the street..

The only xtics that makes us different from the sharia antics which we vehemently oppose... is what we are practicing...

Yes, I agree with you; STEALING is WRONG on all levels.
Either for food, or for lack of hope or for anything...stealing shouldn't be an option.

The begging he never wanted to do is apparently what he'll be forced to do if he has no 'hope.'

If it had resulted in a minor injury, you would have probably said 'it serves him right.'

bitter lesson for the poor child to learn...
but if thieves go to any length to steal, rob and maim
who says we should not go to any length to protect what is ours...

for a man struggling to make it...adding a missing phone to the already overburdened list of things to hustle for costs much more than the cost of the phone-contacts, psychological trauma, fear of living in an unsafe neigbourhood etc....

if you have ever lost a phone through theft...you will understand.
the boy will graduate to staying by the window and threatening to shoot, if you do not hand over phones and more...he grows up and begins to break doors...
what if he was not alone?

Biblical shari'ah law of cutting off hand of a thief is applied to a boy trying to steal phone in Delta state.

Deuteronomy 25:11 ESV
“When men fight with one another and the wife of the one draws near to rescue her husband from the hand of him who is beating him and puts out her hand and seizes him by the private parts, then you shall cut off her hand. Your eye shall have no pity.

These were the biblical verses used to carry out the cutting:

Matthew 18:8 ESV
And if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life crippled or lame than with two hands or two feet to be thrown into the eternal fire.

Matthew 5:29 ESV
If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.

I know what he did was wrong but being an adult there are better ways to handle some issues. The man is a beast

I have been robbed 3 different times. The 3rd one was worst because they also stole what belongs to my customers. Which I had to pay for. So if i see a robber in my house the fourth time. And i have a Cutlass and a gun, what should I do? I should sit back and let them put me in trouble again? I should start paying for what i didnt do? If i can kill a thief I'll do it because of what they have done for me. Some customers even said I was lying. That i was never robbed maybe I've sold their laptops and giving them story. Thank God I and my mum reported to the police immediately it happened. There was also photo evidence. Yet dem collect their money oooooo.

No law was broken here. The thief broke into his home and put him at risk, he responded by defending himself.

How was he to know the thief did not have a gun or any other weapon?

I can't help but wonder how some Hypocrites reason here. A boy strong enough to come at night to steal should be prepared for whatever happens to him. The boy should go and do thanksgiving cos it was only short sleeve he received and that his head was not cut off. If it was me, I would have removed his head with my Agege from Ayelala temple. Rubbish.

U can't blame the man for cutting his hand, he was angry, we don't knw what exactly happened, nd what exactly the man has been passing tru, but all I can say is that if that young boy didn't come to steal, his hand will still be complete...

What Oga Seun told me when I got banned nd complained- 'u do the crime, u do the time' .....

The young man pictured above met his waterloo as he tried to steal a phone by passing his hand through someone's window in Sapele, Delta state. The owner of the house on sighting the man’s hand fiddling for the phone, quickly went for a cutlass and cut of the man’s hand. Mr. Burglar ran away into the night crying with his amputated hand. Pictured above is the burglar at the hospital. See graphic photos below;

I feel for the guy. I would've offered to give him the phone with food and money. Regardless of the harsh economic realities, we should never discard our humanity.
My brother, please don't say this. That boy deserves it as well as other heartless thieves. Phone thieves are the worst form of thieves existing cos they know that the phone is more valuable than the price to the owner. There will be documents, pictures contacts, and all in the phone, yet they have no iota of pity when wiping it all off. From my experience, i fully endorse such traleatment to heartless thieves
