The Force headquarters said a special team set up by the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has prevented many attacks on innocent Nigerians by Fulani herdsmen.

It stated that the Special Intelligence Response Team, had foiled many violent attacks by bandits, including herdsmen, adding that many suspects had also been arrested and charged to court.

When asked if any of the attackers were arrested, the CP declined to comment, saying, “It’s an ongoing thing, it’s a process, so we want to be silent on that.”

This is were we always get it wrong. THERE ARE SOME CRIMINALS THAT DONT NEED TO BE ARRESTED AND CHARGED TO COURT. IT IS JUST A WASTE OF TIME CHARGING THEM TO COURT AND IT IS LIKE ARE RECYCLING THEM TO THE NEXT PHASE TO COMMIT MORE ATROCITIES WHEN THEY GET BAIL. SUCH CRIMINALS OUGHT TO BE GUNNED DOWN IMMEDIATELY

That's what happens when a party makes Lai lying Mohammed their spokesperson and thereafter minister of misinformation.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Bisi Kolawole, said this in response to inquiries about the incessant bloody attacks by Fulani herdsmen across the country.

“The Special Intelligence Response Team has arrested many herdsmen and other criminals, it has also foiled several attacks before they were carried out; this means the police are ahead of the criminals, but where you have attacks, our men have been deployed and investigation has commenced and it is a matter of time before we arrest the perpetrators,” she said.

Kolawole stated that the police authorities had strategised and put in place security measures to degrade the attackers, adding that the police would continue to arrest and prosecute all criminals across the country.

Commenting on the attack in Enugu in which about 20 people were allegedly killed by herdsmen, she said that the police had commenced investigation into the incident, noting that the Enugu State Commissioner of Police had deployed his men to the crime scene.

On the allegation that the command had prior information on the attack, but failed to foil it, Kolawole said she had no such report.

Meanwhile, the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Nwodibo Ekechukwu, has said that he deployed sufficient policemen in Nimbo, Uzo-Uwani local government, which was attacked on Monday.

The CP informed our correspondent over the telephone on Tuesday that the marauders engaged policemen and soldiers that were deployed in a shoot-out.

He explained that the intention of the attackers was to attack the centre of the town, noting that the security forces engaged them in a shoot-out and thwarted their plan to stage a massive attack.

Ekechukwu said, “We massively deployed policemen in Uzo-uwani when we got information that the place is under threat, anyone saying we didn’t deploy sufficiently would not have been on the ground and so cannot say what happened.

“Sufficient police officers were deployed, but the community is very vast; Nimbo is in Uzo-uwani Local Government Area and it has boundaries with Ebonyi, Anambra, Benue and Kogi States.

“Our men were supported by soldiers and they prevented the attackers from coming to the centre of the community. The attack took place at the fringe of the town and my men engaged the attackers in a shoot-out and prevented them from coming to the centre of the town which was their target.”

When asked if any of the attackers were arrested, the CP declined to comment, saying, “It’s an ongoing thing, it’s a process, so we want to be silent on that.”

This can only happen in Nigeria. Fulani herdsmen now engage police and army in gun battle yet in the process the herdsmen were still able to overpower them and killed scores of people. Unbelievable

In 2000 buhari and co visited Lam adesina on account of few Fulani that was killed. Today Fulani are killing others and the same buhari has remain numb and when Enugu governor called him to order the police and military to nimbo he kept him on hold for 24 hrs. Buhari I smell your hand in this, but you will fail because no one takes a snake by the tail. Its Fulani against others this time you will not prevent a counter attack.

Eeyah, so the Enugu governor was on hold for 24hrs? Is he that jobless or clueless or powerless?

Arrant Nonsense. This confirms the news that Nigerian Police and Army intentionally turned their backs to the Uzo-Uwani community during d attack.
The federal govt of GMB has an evil agenda for this country. I could remember all his statements in 2011, it was his action and statement that wasted the lives of youth Corp members in Bauchi and it was since then that Boko Haram started spreading like wildfire . Even at the time Fed govt of GEJ was looking for ways to eliminate bokoharam, GMB said publicly that attack on boko haram is attack to the north and that they will resist it. Few months later Gov Nyako of Adamawa Satae wrote a letter accusing President Jonathan of Genocide because he sent Nigerian military to attack and eliminate Boko Haram. They initiated a system of dialogue BTW Boko Haram and the Fed govt but the federal govt said they can't negotiate with invisible persons and the then Shekau mention GMB as one of their representatives for the meeting.

My people why am I saying this, I want us to go back and remember what happened in the past so that we can have a clear vision on how to defend ourselves from these wolfves in human flesh.
Playing politics with human lives is the worst thing that can happen to a nation. That was why GEJ said that his political ambition does not worth the blood of any single Nigerian.
It's only God's intervention that can help us now so everybody needs to pray hard, tell God almighty to remove this cup from us and I assure you he will do it.

When the Government is not ready to defend the people, the people will defend themselves.

President Buhari, be a President. Be the Soldier who swore to protect the lives of Nigerians. Condemn this publicly.

What is your definition of public condemnation? Actions are what is necessary, not just words which have been done by the way. Buhari has ordered the army and the police to take care of the menace. Your state government and chief security officers should also do their part. Normally, it's their job.
