It's a common knowledge that there are no absolute truths in Science..... We all know how the scientific method works. Using an hypothesis to make a prediction is a crucial step. If the hypothesis predicts something, and then experiments back it up, that becomes pretty convincing. But that doesn't mean it's true (the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 25th prediction may turn out to be wrong) - but a hypothesis that correctly predicts something deserves respect..... Other scientists REPRODUCE this, and also try to make their own predictions, and carry out their own experiments. And if a scientist does an experiment that doesn't fit with the hypothesis, and other scientists can reproduce it, then the scientist have to come up with a modification, or come up with a new one entirely.

The process of testing a hypothesis to destruction is a vital part of the scientific method. And our currently accepted theories are the ones that have survived this "trial by evidence" and The cosmological Theory of the Big Bang is one of them.

Scientific theories are wonderful and fascinating, but sometimes it can be a challenge to keep up with all the changes and new discoveries being made. Someone comes along with a wonderful new theory that passes every test imaginable and the scientific community embraces it. Years later it is found to be inaccurate (the technology has improved to achieve even finer limits of testing, or contradictory evidence found) and the theory is discarded or modified. It therefore follows that our currently accepted theories that have survived "trial by evidence", after having been tested many, many times over the years and survived, NEVER become hard and fast, totally indisputable fact. Since, it'd only take one odd, totally inexplicable result, and the hypothesising and testing would start all over again.

But what about The Big Bang Theory? Is this theory subject to experiencing the same fate as the others that have bee ditched over the years? It is indeed true that the theory is a long way to go in order to be able to explain the origin of the universe. But this is not to say that the theory as it stands is in anyway wrong. The staggering amount of evidence in support of the Big Bang theory is simply overwhelming. So much so that the theory simply cannot now be overturned. So much so that the theory simply cannot now be overturned. What is known to agree with the theory today cannot be changed tomorrow, by any theory, to make it disagree.

The situation is such that any new theory, far from displacing the Big Bang, would have to incorporate it. In other words, it can only be improved upon in much the same way that Einstein incorporated Newton's theory of gravity into his own theory of relativity. Relativity did not overthrow Newton's theory, it incorporated and developed it.

So, what do you all think? Can the Big Bang theory be overturned? Is there such a possibility?

On careful study the big bang theory is a likely assumption of the state of the origin of the universe based on consistent observation of its nature.

By 'state of the origin' I mean, a consistent guess of the initial nature of the universe and its original burst of time and space.

So unless we get new observations or our observations change entirely then it looks to stand as the most accurate projection.
