In a resource dependent economy like Nigeria....once the price of the resources goes up...that means that prices of staples too go up..because most of them are imported...and you need more naira to import them goods (or the raw materials needed to make the goods). Add the fact that due to a lack of forex (and due to government conserving forex to make sure that things don't get worse faster)...it is difficult to import everything..thus fewer goods...with lots of money chasing them...leading to inflation. The solution? Prepare for several years of hardship...while the govt makes the wise decision (I hope, because our political elite too are very resource dependent in their thinking too...like most Nigerians)...to invest more in power, transport and education....so that we transition into a manufacturing society. We have no choice. Resource dependency works when you have guaranteed markets. Not now when there is in some cases ''no market''. 1 Like 1 Share |

Oga, you are still living in the past - still busy passing blame! Receive sense Bro! quote author=Zico5 post=45244868]our economy hurts and those that put us in this mess are abroad hidden and also enjoying life like no tomorrow. We are here praising them, even wish they come back to rule again. I wonder if we can ever live a good life here or probably Nigeria is caused. I'm very sure these people will be laughing at us cos of our ignorance, they know they dear not show their face here unless being repatriated. We will all reap whatever we sow, not only that those that support evils will also be punished no matter how[/quote] |
