MDCN MCQs (Mutiple Choice Questions) is one out of the many parts of the MDCN Assessment examination. Others include Essay questions (Long and Short Answer Question), Identification of common clinical instruments (sometimes in form of a slide show) and Clinical exam ( Long &Short cases or Objective Structure Clinical Exam,OSCE). The MCQs usually consist of one hundred (100) main questions. These main question has options "A-E" which serves as sub-questions, hence making the total number of questions Five hundred (500).

Each sub-question is answered individually by choosing T (True) or F(False) on the answer sheet. The total allocated time is usually 90 minutes.

Many candidates face the challenge of not finishing within the allocated time, often still having questions left unanswered. To succeed in this aspect of the assessment exam knowledge and speed are quite important. Practicing with sample MCQs questions (usually from Final year students at your exam centre) can help a lot. It is advisable to do these regularly as many times as possible individually and in groups. It is unlikely that MDCN examiners will repeat questions from these sample MCQs but the content they cover would be similar to those of real examination. Sample questions also help you to develop your speed and accuracy.

In the course of the exam, if you meet a questions whose answer proves a bit challenging, please just note it and move over to the next. There are always many more questions whose answer are less challenging. Remember time is of essence.

In addition, you also need to know whether your exam centre will use "negative marking" in assessing your answers. Negative marking involves deducting a certain amount of mark from your overall mark for each question you answer incorrectly. Examiners use this at times to ensure candidates are not guessing their answers. You have to talk to your centre coordinator to know if your answers will be assess through this method. If you will not be assessed with negative marking then you should try to attempt all questions in the MCQs.

Meanwhile if you are able to finish the test before time, go over the questions again to ensure you haven't made any mistake (some candidates answer "T" where they intended "F" due to haste).
There is no just one way to passing the exam. Ensure you have enough studytime, good rest, and practice to help develop your speed.
Never also forget prayer

Best wishes!
