Most Nigerians and their penchant for reaping where they didn't sow. Don't tell me it's poverty, this is pure greed; inordinate quest amongst most Nigerians to take without adding value. Why are you scooping spilled fuel that does not belong to you when you know that you can get burnt to ashes??
I was caught up in Accra morning traffic, a friend wanted to buy Wrigleys gum from a street hawker and he only had $1 bills, he grabbed one pack from the hawker's tray and handed him $1 instead of 1Cedi...($1=1.5cedis) . He couldn't find any change, then apologized and wanted to give us back our money in an exchange for his pack of gum. We asked him to keep the money..
It then struck me to run a social experiment in Lagos traffic. At first we gave street hawkers N1000 for a N150-200 item, none brought back any change, instead they would switch lanes to completely go out of our sight.
There is a Shylock mentality amongst most Nigerians; they think that almost everyone who seems well off must have stolen from the system, therefore, it's their turn to get a pound of flesh from the person.

Have I not told you corruption is in our DNA and that we cannot just vote it out as happened last year at the polls.

Plane runs into stray cows in Port Harcourt • 196
passengers escape death

Wednesday, July 06, 2005 - Soni Daniel,Akin Olukunle and
Seto Olatuyi

An Air France aircraft with 196 passengers on board ran
into stray cows on the runway of the Port Harcourt
International Airport as it touched down on Wednesday
morning.

The Airbus 330 marked F-GZCF flew in from France.
There was no loss of life or injury.
Seven of the stray cows were however killed by the plane,
forcing the authorities to close the airport for about five
hours.

There was no word about the whereabouts of the herdsman.
It was gathered that it took officials of the Federal Airports
Authority of Nigeria about three hours to round up the
surviving cows and clear the runway of debris before flights
resumed at about 12 noon.

A spokesperson for Air France, Mrs. Moyo Areola, confirmed
to journalists that none of the passengers was wounded.
Areola said, “There were cows on the runway, but the
aircraft landed safely. The passengers have all
disembarked. We are probably not going to fly out today
until we are sure the plane is not damaged.

“It is a puzzle. We are trying to figure out how the animals
got to the place.”
The airline, in a statement made available to our
correspondent at about 8pm, said a mechanical team from
Paris was on its way to Port Harcourt to further certify the
safety of the aircraft.

“The statement read, “While landing at 04.30am local time
this morning (Wednesday) in Port Harcourt, our aircraft
carrying 196 passengers collided with some cattle that were
crossing the tarmac. No passenger or crew was injured.
“The aircraft taxied safely to the gate on time at 04.34am
local time. The aircraft is presently on ground for safety
reasons and will not be flown until all necessary safety
precautions have been taken.

People who have not driven on the Interstate will be the ones to ask how can a herd of cattle cause an accident. I personally have had near misses even in urban setups and heard several tire shreiks. Yes there is mass hysteria about the fulani at present but its because it has reached a head. Link up to the FRSC and let them tell you what menace straying animals cause on the highway. A fully laden fuel truck will as a matter of fact, crash trying to evade them. And the report made it clear that the fire was caused by the hot wheel of an SUV running into the spill the firemen were trying to flush and the main victims were in a bus behind the SUV. I think the sequence of events is clear enough. Cattle have no business in the vicinity of a high speed motorway and the FRSC had better add that to their safety agenda to halt the carnage.

The Lagos state Police Command has called on those whose relatives are missing to come forward for possible identification of no fewer than 13 people who were reportedly killed in a fire incident at the Lotto area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The herdsmen fled the scene immediately as residents attempted to mob them.

The Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi has confirmed the incident stating that, “The road was soaked with fuel after the tanker fell.

“The police and the fire service men were trying to neutralise the power of the petrol when fire broke out. The fire service truck, which was on duty, was the first to be burnt.

Four other persons were injured in the inferno, including an official of the Ogun State Fire Service, identified as Ayodele Adetayo.

The injured victims were said to have been rushed to private hospitals before being transferred to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital.

Police officers attached to the Redemption Camp division were said to have removed the dead cows, and contacted Total to send another truck for fuel transfer.

Some residents came out and started scooping the fuel spilled into the gutter when a Sports Utility Vehicle, SUV, which had a burst tire drove on its rim and ignited a fire.

Fire then engulfed an 18-seater bus driving behind it, two Hilux vans, a Dangote truck and a fire service truck, which was rounding off operation.

The PPRO further added that, “No fewer than 13 people were burnt beyond recognition. About five vehicles were also burnt.

“We urge those whose relatives are missing to come forward for possible identification because for now we cannot recognise anybody,”Adejobi added.

Endangered species are difficult to find.

Do you know why herdsmen perambulate the country without any fear?

Because the people allow them.
\
People have being so much overwhelmed by these upsurge of Fulani menace here and there that the only way they can mentality deal with it is to develop all manners of coping mechanism such as to think any report on their evil Fulani must all be conspiracy concocted by Biafranists and non-APC folks to barbarize them but conveniently ignorant of their atrocious antecedents in history since 1804 through the 70s, 80s, 90s up till now. So because I can't provide a photographic proof of an incident I and many others witness this afternoon, where a Fulani herding several cows and calves along a road, the only road connecting several streets almost caused an accident with an fast coming 'pure-water' truck, people just screamed yeee! and that's all, he didn't apologized and just moved on like nothing happened. So you're right, people allow them to move around freely, distributing faeces everywhere.

If every village or town in the SW, SE and SS builds huge barbeque and suya spots, then thereafter proclaim the arrival of Fulani herds as a free barbeque/suya day, herdmen and the flock will desist from crossing River Benue.

Re: Fulani Herdsmen Cause Accident On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway by beamed: 8:59pm On May 04, 2016
Our carelessness in this part of the world is nothing but legendary. I drove on this axis on Monday night and saw the fallen tanker. It happened around lotto as reported just after NNPC filling station. Usually, the spot is always unlit and driving from Lagos approaching lotto demands patience which only a sane driver can have.

I saw the imminent danger as I approached lotto on Monday night as I could perceive from a distance an unsual object by the road. This happens to be the fallen tanker. Besides, the odour of the spilled product was there for anyone who cares to perceive.

Got my speed under control and reason within, this place will go up in flames soon because most motorist never slowed down approaching lotto albeit it's peculiar nature - it's a bit steep as you approach from Lagos and narrows into almost one lane. It's also a bit curvy.

Now the report says, an SUV drove past with a rim and no tire, ignited the spilled product. It's sad how we allow things get bad before adopting common sense.

Let's be careful folks. Let's be sensitive too.

Really the way herdsmen rear cattle along the high ways is worrisome. At times their animals will just recklessly cross the road against the oncoming vehicles thereby causing drivers to manipulate suddenly, and in the process may swerve to wrong sides, fall into ditches or run into another vehicle. Their wandering along the roads is dangerous and must be stopped.

Let's be real. Why can't these blood-suckers imbibe the modern method of ranching system which will not only put a stop to continual life-claiming vehicular collision but would also provide safety for their cows whose lives as a matter of the fact; they rate high and over that of humans except theirs. Instead, they prefer the bronze-age system of roam-grazing wherever they choose to litter cow stool on. Why ?

April last year, this same thing happened along Asaba-Benin highway. But we were lucky nobody was harmed. The devilish cow that caused the accident ran back to join its fellow cows. While the herdsman just stood by the road side watching without saying a word.

Those herdsmen and their cows are evil.
