Redmi series and note series are budget oriented series and as such just forget about the notion of AMOLED screens, xiaomi didn't even employ AMOLED on their flagship phones til this year. Increase in price would take it to the level of mi series and this is a deviation for their biz plans for the redmi series.

You could go for mi 8/SE if you are all about display.

The plain truth is the notch will grow on you, I personally would prefer phones not having it though.
On the amoled coming to the redmi series, even if it does, be rest assured it will be of inferior quality compared to the ones used in their flagships like the mi 8 series not to talk of the Samsung galaxies.

The Redmi Pro utilized amoled screen you can try and find comparison reviews online. The reason Xiaomi has not brought out another redmi model with amoled at that price range again is not far fetched, it's simply not up to par.
