Goke7:Quasi-regionalism shouldn't be compared to the regional development that was once the source of national development before the reverse gear was engaged and national development, slow and unpredictable as it was, became the driver of negative regional development. |

StarOnEarth:If the rogue government of the day told you a lie that it was militants that made them generate zero MW ask them if the militants also blasted water pipelines leading to dams that produces electricity? This is a call to justice and righting the very wrongs inherent in the structures that has held us back from evolving. Which fortune do you talk aabout? Government is broke and can no longer afford throwing money as an easy way out for a structural problem as this.Force them into submission using superior arms or grant them full resource control. |

SleekAboki: and who reversed the gear of regional development that we once had, now this is a tricky question for you o? Be sincere and tell us who reversed regionalism that you so much crave for right now, am waiting, no fall hand o |
Re: Four Power Plants Shut After Militants’ Attacks by SleekAboki: 10:53am On May 10, 2016 |
Goke7:Who or what entity reversed such is not the issue of discussion on this thread. The issue here is righting injustices so peace and progress can reign. You can create a separate thread so the spirit of those times can be captured and finger pointing and blames the order of the thread. Buhari has a very fantastic opportunity to right the wrongs of yesterday's and reposition Nigeria for the ultimate change. 1 Like |

SleekAboki: you see, that is the problem we have, we use our own hands to destroy what's good and we start shouting later to get it back by blackmailing those who were never the genesis of the problem. Yea, PMB has a fantastic opportunity just like GEJ had too, so if PMB does not use the opportunity just like GEJ didn't, life goes on bruv. Tell your states governors to do more for the people, that's where the solution will begin cos its the same governors that will be in charge too if we go back to regionalism, if they can't do anything now with the little resources they can still control, they will do nothing too if all the resources were put into their hands. Awolowo succeeded not because of regionalism, but because of the drive and passion he has for true development of his region. The resources Awolowo had then, many states have far more now so what are they doing? States Governors are not sincere. 1 Like |

Goke7:Shouldn't the government be arresting our governors that drills golden borehole for 73 million per one? Do you expect the ordinary people in the streets to fight with a governor that has over 165 Dss military police airforce and Efcc as bodyguards? Buhari doesn't even have the money to buy his way out like previous governments did.Nigeria is dead broke. This is a fantastic opportunity buhari has to do the next logical thing. |

obailala:But think of it, If there is true federalism or regional segment in this country, each region or state will generate and power its region and there will be a healthy competition among the states. I dont know why Nigeria does not want to embrace true federalism. I prefer regional government to this so call Biafra secessionist |

SleekAboki: But you guys keep supporting these thieving governors and their cronies and whenever anyone is caught, you all shout witch hunt, leave PMB alone and hold the governors more responsible, they hold the key to most of these problems. people keep hitting aregbesola very hard for his inability to pay salaries and for what osun people are going thru but we leave out the niger delta governors for what the folks in Niger delta are going thru and heap all the blames on PMB just because he defeated GEJ at the polls. some of us have just been brainwashed to attack the wrong enemy. The Niger delta governors are robbing their people blind and lying to them that they are been marginalized by the FG. How many Nigerians are richer than the ex-governors of the Niger delta states? 1 Like |

Goke7:Comrade Adams is today amongst the top ten richest politicians in Nigeria and also doubles as a confidant to Buhari. Anybody that gives support to rogue politicians like Fashola Ameachi buhari and the rest is part of the problem we face in Nigeria. The REAL Nigerians are those that speak up against every form of injustices beyond tribal religious and party politics. Are you a REAL Nigerian? have you ever spoken up against your great party APC and messiah buhari? You attempt to either label everyone that speaks up as PDP member or Jonathan kinsman is doing a grave disservice to Buhari from receiving sound advice. 1 Like |

SleekAboki: I totally align with your line of argument. Imagine someone suggesting that there already exist some form of regionalism albeit quasi-regionalism as you put it. That is the most unjustifiable thing that can happen. So some states would be allowed to tap there resources for their benefit while the FG will stap the resources of some other states or region and share to everyone. SMH. One of the most archaic policy of power generation and distribution is the one that allows any power generated anywhere in the country most be added to the national grid and can be distributed to anywhere the govt wishes. That policy is draconian. With regionalism Tinubus IPP would have been embraced by the whole SW by now. North would generate and distribute thru shiroro, kainji, solar and wind, ND will use there gas to generate so if NDA or tompolo decides to blow up gas pipelines it will be ND business and not affect the whole nation and they will be able to fish him out and do the needful. Ajaokuta steel can feed the whole middle belt, with tourism and agriculture that every region cn practice with whatever they have comparative advantage to grow. Yes, its a shame GEJ missed an oppurtunity as a ND and that's why I don't really accord him the respect everyone does coupled with the fact that he allowed so much impunity and his wife to run riot. As per Governors in general whether ND or not, most of them need to be sent to the great beyond. Imagine Seriake Dickson ranting on TV that he needs to flush out ghost workers after his first term in office as if he just knew about it. This country is a big shame and we still don't want to do the right thing. The question is - WHAT IS THE RIGTH THING? 2 Likes 1 Share |

poseidon12:I agree that the structure is a problem but do not agree with your conclusion tha the structure accounts for the violence. There is as much logic to that as saying if you give money to beggars God will bless you with riches. I believe that the cause of violence is multifactorial and to sum it all up as down to structure is not only spurious it is lazy. |
