We are already seeing similar indicators in Nigeria...a path to anarchy. Buhari is scheduled to devalue Naira in few days to all-time low in the history of this country... 290 Naira to Dollar, WE ARE FINISHED! If you have money in naira, go and covert every kobo to dollar or foreign currency...don't say I ddn't warn you! Naira will be worthless in the coming days as inflation will be imminent as foreign investors will be dumping cash into the market to make gains on devalued Naira ! 3 Likes |

Big difference between Venezuela and Nigeria is that Venezuela imports far more than Nigeria. They even import toilet roll and flour! But...this does not mean Nigeria is in a good economic state. To get out of this....we may have to get through a period of austerity....while we spend heavily on the things that we need to become a manufacturing society fully....ie power, transport and education. That is what I would be judging this APC government by. |

Quakertellicus1: Yes devaluation was needed then for 210-220 Naira to Dollar when things were mild economically. Now things have worsened and he is now wanting to devalue to a ridiculous rate of 290 Naira to a Dollar...this one nah death sentence to Nigeria oh! that I don't support! 2 Likes |

I trust the Nigerian Military to do the needful, before Nigeria collapse like what is happening in Venezuela, the Nigerian Military will overthrow Buhari again for the Second time in History and retire Buhari permanently from politics and place him under house arrest in his village Duara for the rest of his gworo chewing and burukutu drinking life. |

Intellect20: Devaluation works when you are producing things that you can export..... Right now....our currency is being devalued. The issue is ....how fast do you want it to devalue. 1 Like |

Monimatic: Well....it still won't solve the problem....which is that we do not have enough forex. Any new government would still face the same low oil prices that we are facing now....and will still take the same measures. The problem is that most Nigerians want to live like oil is at 123 USD. It isn't . It is below 50 USD. All in all...we have to make some hard choices....like completely removing all subsides, and spending more on power, transport and education...so that we can become a manufacturing society. 2 Likes |

Sophisticated minds already knew Nigeria is next immediately it took buhari 6 months to appoint ministers while the economy drifts away. With the Fulani militias, boko harem,IPOB and The Avengers seeking for various forms of justices,Arab spring,Allepo,Venezuela,Iraq,Iran and afghanistan templates might likely happen simultaneously in Nigeria if Buhari continues in his medieval command and control approach. |

Venezuela are not used to suffering and smiling like we Nigerians, they even have more electricity than us. Nigeria is not going to be destroyed but we shall flourish and prosper. 1 Like |

Things are hard right now, but Nigeria cannot descend into that state of lacking basic amenities. That's one luck we have on our side. Nigeria is one country that's both blessed and cursed! |

Nigeria wont fail. Its a pity, we got here in the hands of a confused man. He who is has doubts in his mind is as unsettled as the waves of the sea. Policy summersault and U-turn is a sign of weakness. |

kabman: What makes us a free market country? We have an unproductive civil service that continuously request for more money We have a public service that equally does nothing and receives payment solely from oil We use a quota system to decide how resources from education to jobs are shared. An average of 80 percent of fg budget is spent on subsidising the lives of these individuals above. Nigerians don't pay high enough taxes because oil money augments government's revenue enabling government to subsidise all of our lives one way or the other. Wake up! We are a socialist country. Pray for naija. |
