Theoretically possible, practically less doable especially recurrently (in 2014 alone there were over 3,000 pipeline cases of vandalization and most of them in the ND creeks . . . I don't see how recurrent pipeline assaults can be carried out without the locals compromise). Throw in the fact that new pipelines laid now are implementing a totally different pattern, and implements updated security technology.

OTOH, while Fulani herdsmen incidents and pipeline vandalism are both acts of terror, they are so dissimilar in many ways.
The fact is Fulani can kidnap and collect ransoms, rape and kill all ove the country. So no doubt they can blow up pipelines if they decide to acquire that competence and this is true for Igbos Yorubas and virtually every Nigerian group.
The premise is the Army cannot stop not even the Chinese Army so where then is the logi is sayin locals can stop it ? Can locals stop Bank Robberies? You do not announce your presence you can embed yourself for months in any community as a Maiguard, Maisuya,Pastor, beggar ,Madman or whatever for months so let us leave story.Your claim of 3000 incidents most of them in the Creeks is theory .What is "creeks".You think you are talking to someone who does not know the industry? Most of Nigeri'a s oil production has nothing to do with creeks At any rate there is no where in the so called creeks that is an Ijaw only area.Nigerians are everywhere and ANYONE can blow pipelines.
Pilelines are in the North and the SW .The largest gas thermal station is in Lagos.

The bottomline is if government sits down to talk with one set of people 1000 more will emerge so bribing them is only a short term solution

What about the people working there you think they too cannot blow pipelines

Your opinion.

The gas is the key to cutting the evil umbilical cord binding us to the rest of the country.
I am not so kin on the oil.
The gas though is key to getting the factories rolling again.
Yorubaland has shed over 500,000 textile jobs since 1983.

It means it's your opinion and it does not necessarily make it right, but you're entitled to it anyway . . . 'opinions are like arm pits, everyone has them, and most of them stink'.

Coming from an adult that cannot differentiate between proposed new industry gas pipes for electricity plants and existing crude oil pipes, same guy that thinks gas pipes would have to be littered all over the country to get electricity across to every part of the country.

Same Einstein, that thinks he knows the number of pipeline vandalization incidents better than the NNPC and it's subsidiaries.

He is so brilliant that he cannot distinguish between recurrent attacks and a one-off-surprise attack.

I say his opinion stinks, he says 'no', but wait for it, he is still gon' come back with a more preposterous epistle.

Everything you wrote up there is an apology in relation to the subject matter . . . I'd advice you edit it for your own sake.

After spending 25 years exploring for hydrocarbon resources off the coast of Lagos, Yinka Folawiyo Petroleum, in partnership with Panoro Energy ASA and First Hydrocarbon Nigeria (FHN) Limited, among others, finally catapulted Lagos State into the league of oil and gas producing states in the country.

Panoro, an independent oil and gas company based in the United Kingdom, announced wednesday that oil production had commenced from the Aje oil field located in Oil Mining Lease (OML) 113, offshore Lagos, on Tuesday, May 3.

Of greater significance also is the disclosure that the oil field holds untapped reserves of about 650 billion cubic feet (bcf), which if harnessed in two to three years’ time, according to a company source, could supply Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub, all the gas feedstock it needs for the thermal power stations and other manufacturing concerns domiciled in the state and its environs.

Summary of Independent Assessment by Schlumberger

· Ororo Field (Ondo State) hydrocarbon in place estimated at 35.2- 44.1 MMstb (P50 - P10 oil-in-place).

· Seven oil bearing sands (D1, D2, D3, D4, D5, F and G) were identified in Ororo-1 well.

· The P50 - P10 Recoverable Oil from the single Ororo-1 well estimated at 10.0 MMstb - 12.8 MMstb.

· The Ororo-1 well flow tested at a combined production rate of approximately 2,800 barrels of oil per day (bopd) from two oil producing sands.

· Ororo-1 well contains 125ft true vertical thickness (TVT) of net oil pay.

· The P50 - P10 Gas Initially In Place estimated at 396.5 - 557.6 Bscf with Recoverable Gas of 276.9 - 390.66 Bscf (P50 - P10).

The above are just a fraction of what obtains. And I think the FG and both states should look into the opportunity that the incessant restlessness of militants offer -- it's an 'opportunity', and I'd say "take it".

LOL.

Nigeria's total crude oil reserves for Brent/light oil = 37.2 billion barrels (current estimate).

Nigeria's total Bituminous/heavy oil reserves = 42 billion barrels (current estimate).

Ondo state alone has over 31 billion barrels of 'heavy oil' and roughly 3-5 billion barrels of light oil reserves . . . making it the state with the largest oil deposits in the country by a long mile!

P.S. This article is actually about gas reserves. And the gas reserves between Lagos and Ondo states alone is more than enough to power half of the country for probably a 100 years @ 99 kWh per Mcf (1,000 cubic feet) of natural gas

Lol.. I remember that foolish oduastate, he has abandoned his moniker.

We will soon cut abobaku monkeys out of natural gas. They must power themselves with wood from evil Soka forest haha

Afonjas and their useless propaganda is one of the major factors that destroyed Nigeria. Look at how they were dancing all over this thread and pouring saliva everywhere about phantom huge deposit of gas in Lagos and Ondo states back in 2016 shocked shocked They didn't realize that internet never forgets. Now, 4 years later, federal government is building pipelines all the way from Imo state to the same Lagos State that had trillions of audio cubic feet in reserve cry cry cry

These people are terrible liars that live off propaganda. So shameful.

Mr Physics what happened to the audio gas reserves you guys were making noise about in 2016??

Nobody takes the afonjas serious again. This is becoming so ridiculous. Tufiakwa!!

The afonjas also claimed that huge oil reserves have been discovered offshore Lagos. Yet all we saw was a small bottle that contained black liquid. Instead of showing us oil fields or rigs as prove all we saw was Guinness stout that was poured into a transperant bottle cry cry

In their desperation to prove that they are not parasites feeding off Niger Delta oil they ended up disgracing themselves.
