The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Babachir Lawal, on Wednesday took a swipe at the Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, over the current fuel crisis in the country.

Lawal slammed the minister at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja shortly before the commencement of a meeting of the Federal Executive Council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The SGF had been struggling unsuccessfully to make ministers who were busy exchanging pleasantries settle down ahead of Buhari’s arrival.

Not even his announcement that Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo was already seated was enough to make the ministers settle down.

Disturbed that the venue was still in a rowdy situation, Lawal looked round and saw Kachikwu shaking hands and discussing with a colleague.

The helpless SGF then said loudly but jokingly, “Kachikwu, there is no fuel and you are there shaking hands!”

While the venue erupted in laughter, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola also replied Lawal, saying, “There is fuel. It is N107.”

The meeting which Lawal said would be very short is currently ongoing with Buhari presiding.

The SGF announced to the ministers to keep their contributions during the meeting short, saying jokingly, “all those grammar should be avoided.”

He also said the only item that would be accommodated under AOB would be a presentation by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige.

The day Nigerians realize that the government does not have their interest, the better for us. Am not saying they should not joke, everything has its own time. Nigerians are angry with the conditions they go through daily, one would have expect them to dialogue with labour before fixing price, that way the strike would have been avoided. The last time kachikwu joked about not being a magician, he go it well served from the people.

The simple truth is this U can't give what u don't have

NLC said government should repair the refineries.. . I ask with what money

Take a look at our revenue proposal for the year. ... We can't, there is no forex, we already have one of the least price of petrol in Africa

The simple truth is this, this a great opportunity to deregulate and if we miss it we will still suffer tomorrow

Who knows whether there's now dual fuel price N107 for buhari's cronies and at least N145 for d general population.

After all cronies r getting dollar from CBN at N198, others at N380!

do u know d meaning of deregulation?
dis aint deregulation, this is apc monetary policy gone bad. some r saying subsidy removal n our mumu journalist go follow dey tweet with arshtag nosubsidyremoval.
semi illiterate journalist that dont know what questions to ask at the right time.
what Jonathan did was deregulation or partial deregulation cos govt still fixed d price at that time, but what is happening now is marketers sourcing for forex at a proposed devalued rate against the official rate known to nigerians n the world.

The SGF has said the TRUTH, no affordable fuel for the poor masses on the street, and Kachikwu is here celebrating. For Fashola, is APC still campaigning, where are they selling fuel #107 in naija now, is it Lagos or Abuja? This APC govt will kill people with lies.

These people are just laughing at issue bordering Nigerians. My question here is that should we keep quiet and watching because many Nigerians who are suffering and smiling said we should not protest? They re okay buying Garri at 250 naira per kongo formally 80 naira as at December 2015. when petrol was even at 86Naira. I wonder how much we will buy it now by next week.
