Now you want to get me upset but I won't, one thing is for sure there is nothing special about your tribe. It's normal for most Nigerians to speak other languages and there is no big deal in that.

This is not a tribalistic thread and that is what you Igbos are known for, you want to hijack and claim everything. You can go create a thread about your igbo people at least you have millions of them in entertainment, leave my small thread about my people alone.
Thank you.
This is not a tribalistic thread. When one makes an important point and observation,it should be viewed as a tribalistic comment.
I'm igbo and it's a fact that most Igbos in Lagos grow up speaking more Yoruba than Igbo. This fact is not tribalistic but an observation which should force Igbo parents to sit up and teach igbo to their children.
If you see my observation as a tribalistic post then that is your problem not mine.
It's a fact that these edo celebs either rep Igbo or yoruba, the onus is on you to learn to promote more of your culture. Tribalistic responder!

You're very funny. Just because Edo actors and actresses act in Igbo and Yoruba films doesn't mean that they're completely assimilating into those cultures. For example, Mercy Aigbe still acknowledges that she's a Benin girl, as shown by the film Osas. Also, Charles Inojie and other Edo actors know where they come from as well, in fact they do all they can to mentor Edo actors and make the Edo film industry grow. There's this Esan-English film titled Elomo and it features a couple Igbo actresses, should I sit there and say that those Igbo actresses are repping Esan culture? If anything, you should actually be grateful that they embrace your damn culture and language. What it shows is that Edo people are tolerant and open to embracing other cultures.
How is it my business if your celebs rep other people's culture?
A while ago, many people thought that Sam Loco,Toyin and Mercy Aigbe were either Yoruba or Igbo because they 'Carry these cultures on their head as if they own it''
This is an observation that you should reflect on,it's not an avenue for you to diss me or my culture, you don't know me anyway.
But this is an avenue to let you know that your celebs rep other culture at the detriment of their own maybe because they have to yield to the dominating cultures and groups in Nigeria.
You should be more concerned that folks like Mercy and Toyin is more Yoruba than Edo and Sam Loco was more Igbo than Edo.
It doesn't show that they embrace anything,it only shows they are not doing enough to promote your culture.
When Igbo artist start reping yoruba or hausa profusely,we call them to order and ask them to rep more igbo for prosterity sake.
You should do same instead of looking for who to insult.

Must you make this thread about Igbo? It's the Igbo's that rep other culture and maybe because it was a Nollywood Igbo's producer that influence them. Sam loco speak a lot of different languages and he was pro one Nigeria. You guys are annoying and some Igbo's speak Yoruba or anywhere they stay and they learn their host languages. Edo's dont hardly speak anything Igbo.
A lot or should i say 80percent of Igbo celebs that grew up outside igboland speak Hausa,Yoruba or some other language. But how do they manage to still retain their identity even after acting a yoruba movie or singing a yoruba song?
Because they know it is showbiz, after that they quickly drop yoruba and revert back to their Igbo culture.
A lot of Igbo celebs act Yoruba movies or sing yoruba lyrics like Psquare,Mike Ezuruonye, Zack Orji etc. That doesn't stop them from going all out to promote their culture. The fact is that your celebs have carried and promoted other cultures in such a way that people don't know they come from Edo.

That is an observation and it should be a cause for concern, look inwards and identify why these celebs lose their identity while promoting other cultures. There is nothing wrong with reping other cultures but learn from the Yorubas,Igbos,Hausas and Cross riverian groups.

Eedris Abdulkareem is from Edo State

Rymzo is an Edo man
Eedris Abdulkareem, please check your fact properly, Father is from Osun state, Mother from Ogun state and he was born in Kano. He claims Kano
About Rymzo he has Edo blood because of his mother but his Father is from Trinidad and Tobago.

This tread is really an eye opener for...the claims and counter-claims. As regards Edo folks repping other cultures while relegating theirs, it is a pity that folks from bini are more guilty of this. It is sad but actually true that binis of all edo tribes are more shy to rep their language. Back home, an average bini guy or gurl even while in midst of fellow binis prefer to communicate in pidgin English than bini tongue. It is sadder still that bini parents prefer to speak English even 'broken' English to their wards at home to teaching them bini languages. I pray the incoming monarch do something about this. I guess he is privy to this bini attitude towards their language and determined to address it, hence he told Oshiomhole in one of the Governor's visit to his uselu's palace, that Bini language must not die, Bini culture cannot die.

Some of them be stylishly forming and reping 'team Igbo. While some of them rep yoruba.
When Djinee first came on board, many people thought he was Igbo because of his monster hit titled 'Ego'.
Charles Novia might be Edo but reps Igbo in his movies,he even made a Full Igbo Tv series that was nominated in the last AMVCA.
Nobody knows Charles Inojie as an Edo man,in all his movies he acts like a typical Igbo comedian.
Felix Liberty is the man that sang ifeoma ifeoma i want to marry you. He was crazy about Igbo girls cos he went on to sing about Ngozi,Chi Chi amongst other Igbo female names. I even thought he was igbo till i googled him.
Sam Loco is a fluent Igbo speaker, more fluent than the real owners of the language. I was surprised to see him in Nneka the pretty serpent amongst other igbo language movies.
The point is that Edo people tend to allign with and rep other cultures.
Gbam!
Bt dere ar sme names dt wl jst xpose u evn if 1 associates wt anoda tribe. I dnt need to b told dt any name dt bgins wt 'osa' is a bini blood jst lyk we hv in sme oda tribes

You are right to an extent. Let me use my Bini neighbour as an example. Despite the fact that there mother speaks the language to them, they only reply her back in English or Pidgin English. Benin elders must find a way to make the language , not to go on extinct

Why is it that women are more hardworking than men (even menial jobs) and are mostly bread winners in their homes?

All in all my own observation on these edo people is that all these yans about the edos not promoting their culture might just be out of your own visual psychology; because the dark complexioned edo people mostly tend to look like the yorubas, likewise the light complexioned edos look ibo, so most of you just unconsciously use that to assume people's tribe.. By the way I noticed the light skinned edo people I come across have this soft beauty; my observation...
