Nigeria’s Onitsha, Anambra State’s commercial capital, is the most polluted city on earth, the World Health Organisation has said in a report.

According to the recently released report, three Nigerian cities make the list of 10 most polluted cities of the world.

While Onitsha is first, Kaduna is the fifth and Aba, in Abia State, follows at the sixth position.

The report says Onitsha produces pollution levels of approximately 600 micrograms per cubic meter of PM10s which is around 30 times the WHO recommended level of 20 micrograms per cubic meter of PM10s.

The report says Umuahia, capital of Abia State, is at the 16th.

N/B pollution is not measured by sewage mass, air pollution is a major factor in this ranking, the yardstick for this ranking is the measure of the particulate matter present in the air.

Factors that contributes to high pollution

increased use of vehicles
industrial production
growing population
Landlocked big cities have to avenue to flush out polluted air e.g a city like lagos has lot of avenue to fluah out her polluted air with relatively unpolluted airbreeze

Kaduna-->refuge dump area

Honestly i wasnt surprised to see Aba on that list and I was also expecting to see Lagos.
