Pmbat1
The Change We should See
President muhamadu Buhari was sworn into office as Nigeria's new democratically elected president on the 29th of May 2015 to my own view of a new Nigeria after a fierce polity heated campaign
Promises were made by the APC and Pres. Buhari as if they were horses but the particular one I laid grip on was assurance of an open government
An open government in the sense that daily activities of government will be communicated to the people in the sense that the day to day activities of the government is communicated to the people especially of the financial sector this is the first change the Nigerian people saw
The minister of state for petroleum resources and the general manager of the nnpc Mr Ibe kwachuku spearheaded the opening up of the nnpc and the deregulation of the oil sector
The minister who on assumption of office ordered the opening of social accounts for the nnpc through which the commission will communicate with the people and also a daily basis publication of the activities in the nnpc
NNPC which over the past decades have been the most controversial federal institution in Nigeria
There's no denying that the economy is currently in a mess, international financial organization and ratings agencies are downgrading our economy some concluding that Recession is imminent but the question is who's fault is that, the answer is no one so many invincible forces controls the economy not just the Nigerian economy but also the global economy
There's no economy that will witness a 70percent cut in revenues and remain the same
While in Nigeria's case oil didn't dominate our exports but dominated government's earnings this commodity fell from $100+ per barrel to $28 per barrel in 2015 it's effects on the economy was harsh, shortages of forex pummeled the Destabilization in the economy
Marketers were unable to access foreign exchange for the importations of refined crude oil this occurrence catapulted the price of PMS in Nigeria which in connection affected the prices of goods and services which is the lead cause of inflation in the economy today while the government is working tirelessly to contain this effects most notable policies such as the diversification campaign which will see special attention given to the agricultural sector and industries so that at least 70percent of our consumables be produced inland without depending on import which is putting pressure on our currency and our nation's foreign exchange reserve So anyone who sits somewhere and choose to blame Buhari on our current economic woes is a sadist who choosed to be so and such individual needs to be tutored on how the economy works it also shouldn't be erased that our past leader's ignorance lead to our current negative economic reality today we abandoned Agriculture for crude oil we abandoned a sector that provides legitimate earnings to the government without spillage of blood without the destruction of the environment without displacing individuals
They never had a long term plan for the economy that is why we are where we are today
With the vast human and material resources this country have Nigeria wouldn't have shied away from becoming a developed country where industrialization strife
This was why I supported the change campaign that was why in my own tiny way I resisted the reelection of a dubious adminstration and supported a man who's history is incomplete without the mention of his Anti Corruption stance
Jonathan had no political will to fight Corruption which have had a public colouration during his regime
Jonathan's adminstration was marked by controversies surpassing that of obasanjo from reports of unremitted billions of dollars from the nnpc to the federation account to reports of the war against Boko Haram being businesized, to subsidy alleviation meant for only political cronies,to funds budgeted for the purchase of arms and ammunition for the Nigerian armed forces to combat the growing threat of terrorism in Nigeria, this funds were pocketed by few elites in government with the ruling party officials, goverment officials, and even private individuals implicated, the exposure was huge it was felt everywhere
Why should any rational human being want such government to continue I am disappointed in the stance of some people from my region as they are being moved by hate and I regard them as ethnicists as the only wrong they see in PMB is where he's from, who he is and his stance
The government of Buhari kicked off by fully implementing the single Treasury account which have save 3 trillion naira it embarked on a mass cut of cost in running the government reducing 42 federal ministries to 24 that was huge
It also embarked on an Anti Corruption like Never before with top politicians being regular attendees in court from criminal charges
We have seen Boko Haram being technical defeated in the sense that they no longer confront the army because the army have being equipped to fight the evil they also no longer hold any single territory as they now resort drugging girls and using them as suicide bombers
This government also seems to be interested in the fast diversification of the Nigeria's economy
Some many policies have been initiated to to help spring back the economy policies like providing loans for small medium businesses which have been kick started by the Nigeria bank of industry, and those captured in the budget like the feeding program, employment for over 1 million unemployed graduates into the education system while they continue to search for jobs in their various academic expertise, monthly pay for critically poor and unemployed graduates etc
We all should exercise patience and support this government that believes in improving the life of the Nigerian people
Those sabotaging government's infrastructural facilities aren't impoverishing the government the pains and suffering come down to the poor masses
Nigerians should used their tongues to count their teeth
This government needs our whole support

May God bless Nigeria
