It is important to know the dos and don’ts when it comes to vaginal care in order to prevent infection, odour and irritation. 1. WASH D VAGINA @ LEAST TWICE DAILY: If you work out, sweat excessively, or are involved in some other sweat-inducing activity, then wash after each activity. Make sure you change your undergarments at least daily and wash them in hot water to kill any stubborn bacteria. This will help to get rid of sweat and bacteria may have been trapped, leaving you feeling and smelling better. 2. DO NOT DOUCHE: Don’t use antiseptic soaps or body scrubs to wash your vagina. These products make the vagina unfavourable for good bacteria and impact on vagina health causing candida super- infection (the one popularly called “toilet infection”). 3. ALWAYS EAT PLAIN:, Unflavoured yogurt regularly or take probiotics. These have live active bacteria that contribute to the healthy ecological balance of the vagina. 4. ALWAYS KEEP YOUR VAGINA DRY: Except you are having sexual intercourse. Keeping moisture and sweat down there is a recipe for bad odour and poor vagina health. You can know your ovulation day; your safe period (when to have sex and not conceive), and also your fertile period every month with your phone 5. ALWAYS CHANGE YOUR TAMPONS OR PADS REGULARLY IF YOU USE THEM DURING YOUR PERIODS: The longer they stay, the faster the bacteria on them will breed, causing potential infections. You shall also avoid pads or tampons with deodorants, sprays or other chemicals. CAUTION TO ALL BH FEMALE GENDER: From a medical perspective, it is quite annoying and shocking to see the sentiments expressed by some women over their vagina’s. It explains why Zambia has one of the highest rate of cervical cancer in the world. Even a grade 10 child can tell some of these things. Please if you have ears, LISTEN: 1. DO NOT DOUCH: that means do not clean your vagina by inserting your fingers or soap or anything else. THE VAGINA IS SELF CLEANING, IT DOES NOT NEED YOUR HELP, LEAVE IT ALONE. Douching can change the acidity and bacterial makeup of the vagina, causing infections, which may spread to the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. It has been associated with bacterial vaginosis, yeast infections, pelvic inflammatory disease, and adverse events in pregnancy. Ladies, there’s no need to douche or apply products internally. You can keep your vagina healthy by simply washing of the vulva (outside) with water during your daily shower or bath. Even if you had sex, or just finished your pees, there is NO need to wash inside, you are damaging yourself. 2. DO NOT USE MADURA STICK OR TUMABWE OR HERBS TO TIGHTEN YOUR VAGINA: Your vagina is a muscle, no amount of sticks or stones or herbs will tighten it. The best you can do to a muscle to work it, please try kegel exercise. You can do this exercise anywhere at any time. Do you know why you think your vagina is tighter after using the sticks or herbs etc? It is because they suck out the moisture from inside and make your vagina to swell, therefore becoming smaller and you think you are tight. You are not, you are simply swollen and having sex while swollen will increase your chances of bruising, infection and other health consequences. STOP INSERTING THINGS IN YOUR VAGINA, LEAVE IT ALONE. Also stop putting vinegar or ice cubes in your vagina. 3. STOP ABUSING FLAGYL TO MAKE YOUR BODY BECOME WARM; Flagyl is an antibiotic, which should only be used when prescribed by a doctor. Abusing it will only make you resistant to it and by the time you are really sick and need it, it will be useless. You are making yourself vulnerable to infections. STOP IT. 4. NO MAN IS WORTH DYING FOR JUST TO PLEASE HIM: Please if you have time take a walk to the cancer ward at UTH, after that visit trust me you will not come here asking for Madura sticks or what to put in your vagina. No man is worth putting your life at risk for. DO YOU KNOW THAT WHEN YOU DIE OF CANCER, WHILE THEY ARE BURYING YOU, HE WILL BE TEXTING HIS GIRLFRIEND THAT, I WILL BE THERE IN 30 MINUTES WE ARE JUST BODY VIEWING!!!! STOP RISKING YOUR LIVES TO PLEASE MEN I REST MY CASE, if you have ears listen. Forward this to every Woman that you care About! By Health Officer Smart.

Maintaining the vagina health should be a top
priority for all ladies. It is important for women
to have the knowledge that their vagina can
easily gets infected by various microorganisms if
proper attention and care is not given to it. For
example, the heat and moisture that is been
generated by the body is capable of making the
vagina susceptible to yeast infection. Below are
some useful tips which can be adopted in
maintaining the vagina health.
It is quite obvious that we are experiencing a hot
season, so the temperature is definitely so high.
Because of the increased temperature, our body
generates lots of heat which in one way or the
other have a negative effect on our reproductive
organs, both that of male and female. Using the
vagina as a case study in this post, follow this
simple tips in order to make it healthy during hot
season
Tips for maintaining the vagina health
1. Switch to cotton underwear
Start by switching your synthetic underwear to
cotton ones. And if you love wearing thongs you
might want to consider an alternative as they
can cause irritation along your bikini line. Opt for
boy shorts instead as they will allow for
maximum air flow and minimise the irritation.
2. Avoid skinny stuffs
Avoid wearing skinny jeans and tight shorts as all
the heat, moisture and friction and irritate the
skin. A good thumb rule to know if your pant is
fitting you right is to see if you can put down
your hands below the waistband.
3. Make it mild
Who does not like to step out of the cold shower
smelling fresh? But those chemical laden soaps
can be harsh on your delicate part and can dry
out the area. Use a mild soap in the sensitive
area. When you are on-the-go occasionally clean
the area with wipes to keep it free from bacteria
and odour.
4. Yea! condoms
Don’t forget the condoms. Not only will it prevent
unwanted pregnancy and STDs but it will keep
your vagina’s pH levels in check and cut down
your chances of suffering from yeast infections.
Also do not doze off immediately after a heated
romp session. Wash your private parts to reduce
your chances of an infection.
5. Wash your towel regularly
Also, wash your towel regularly. Your towel can
breed bacteria and lead to recurring yeast
infections. So, it should be best prevented.
6. Sleep naked
Last and not the least, sleeping naked in
summers (hot seasons) can be a great way to
let your body breathe. You also cannot miss out
on these summer skincare tips.
If you notice a yeasty or mushy scent in your
vagina, you need to see your doctor as it could
be an indication of a skin condition. Follow this
useful tips always, in order to maintain your
vagina health.
