– Lai Mohammed says he is paying the price
for talking too much before the 2015 general
election
– He says Buhari is still on track to fulfill
his campaign promises
– He says that Boko Haram can boast of
any local government under its control today
Lai Mohammed, the minister of Information
has said he committed a sin against
Nigerians by talking too much during the All
Progress Congress (APC), campaigns before
the 2015 general elections.
Speaking at an inaugural town hall meeting
termed “Buharimeter”, held in Abuja and
aimed at assessing the one year in office of
President Muhammadu Buhari and his
administration, Lai Mohammed says he is
paying the price for his sin.
Lai Mohammed, the minister of Information
has said he committed a sin against
Nigerians by talking too much before the
2015 general elections
He said: “I believe that my only sin is talking
too much before the elections and I now
have to pay the price.”
“The first one was held in Lagos. Any
meaningful assessment must be situated
within the right context.
“We campaigned on three broad areas,
corruption, revamp the economy and security.
Have we met our targets? If you ask me, I
will say we are on track.
“When we came in, many local governments
in the north-east were under the control of
Boko Haram. They hoisted their flags, they
were even collecting taxes, but today not
even a single local government is under the
control of Boko Haram.
“We have been able to liberate 16,000
captors from the enclave of Boko Haram.”
Other ministers at the event included
Ministers of Power, Works and Housing,
Babatunde Fashola, Agriculture and Rural
Development, Audu Ogbeh, Environment,
Amina Mohammed and Budget and National
Planning, Udo Udoma.
Lai Mohammed who has always kept the
people informed about national issues was
recently attacked for his continuous blame
game and alleged lies.
The minister on Wednesday, June 1, blamed
the current tomato scarcity in the country on
Boko Haram insurgents . Mohammed said the
insecurity in the north-east had forced many
farmers out of the zone.
He later said that President Muhammadu
Buhari and his ruling APC had fulfilled all
campaign promises. Mohammed evaluating
the performance of the incumbent
government so far added that the Buhari
administration has measured up to
expectation.
However, Nigerians took to social media to
express their anger and disappointment
concerning the statements the minister made.
