My laptop was stolen yesterday sad cry sad cry.  The only security feature I had was the password.
I know these people can reboot it, but what i want to know is CAN THE THIEVES RECOVER MY DOCUMENTS? So I'd know the extent of my trouble.

yes.

all they need to do is remove your hard drive, put it in a hard drive case and connect to another pc. sorry.

That is true damilola once they get access to your harddrive they will have a hold of your documents except you had some encryption on it.

the password is no security bro, the good news is if they are just hustlers, they would only put in a disk in the drive and reformat the entire system without having to check through your files.
