Tragedy struck in Makurdi town of Benue State when a commercial bus crush to death an infant baby over N150 change, injuring the nursing mother in the process.

The ugly incident occurred along Makurdi-Gboko expressway happened Wednesday at about 9p.m.

The father of the deceased baby who simply gave his name as Senator Anuum narrated that the mother of child had boarded the vehicle, alongside her baby, from the second gate of the Benue State University (BSU) to Coca-Cola junction located along the highway.

Anuum explained that when the mother of the child was about to alight from the vehicle at the junction, she gave the bus conductor N200 and she was supposed to be given a balance of N150 which, the conductor refused.

“The mother and her child, who she carried at her back, were the remaining passengers in the bus.

The conductor did not want to give her the change and they drove off, in the process she grabbed the conductor that was already on the moving vehicle, with her baby at the back and she lost balance, fell down and was dragged on the road till the baby fell off from her back, in between the back wheels and was smashed, died instantly and the driver and the conductor drove off,” Anuum said.

It was further gathered that the barbaric act drew the attention of residents and passers-by who thronged to the place to catch a glimpse and rescue the wailing woman. It said the matter has been reported to security agencies.

Efforts to contact the police public relations officer, ASP Moses Yamu failed but a police source said the matter was being investigated to fish out the perpetrators.

May her gentle soul rest in peace..

This cute little kid gave up ghost from the stupidity of her mother and the said bus-conductor..
Quote if you like..the mother is the architect of her predicament..

>she knows her state, having a tender baby at her back, and she have the confidence to drag balance from a conductor, conductors which sometimes are tender lunatic ,or most times get stoned from N50 liqour.. she shouldn't have dragged..

The innocent kid lose her life in exchange for 150..what a life.. Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans

Death, so called, is a thing which makes men weep, And yet a third of life is pass'd in sleep

And before you blame the woman do remember that the economy is not smiling and to leave 150 for someone now is almost like economic suicide if this is hitting you well and do remember that she never envisaged that death or even accident will occur. Rip little child for the struggle to survive has yet taken another life

as much as you are right about the aboveo, you need to FIRST make sure that your children are safe before doing anything.... putting your children's life at risk because of ₦150 or even ₦1M can only be described as madness (IMHO)

let me give you a scenerior of the reality. Just yesterday at my workshop, my boss told someone to stay back and not join to the site but the guy refused and joined the motor. When they were offloading the contents, he had a deep cut that is capable of cutting off his thumb. In my place its said that no one asks for hot water to be boiled before climbing the palm tree

bro, when MONEY is more important than LIFE/SAFETY, then no wonder so many innocent kids/adults are dying everywhere. it is irresponsible f anyone to knowingly put their children's life at risk, for ANY amount.

man that is our everyday scene in nigeria. Lagos for example is a place where people jump in and out of moving vehicles. Have you imagined what will happen should one loose balance in such vehicles
