Sen. Melaye Calls For The Scrapping Of "State Of Origin" As A Political Requirement.

*The Middle Bet
.
1. The scrapping of state of origin as poltical requirement will enable Fulani migrants over time rule over the minorities of the Middle bet just like what they have done to the core Northern states. The fulani herdsmen attack on the middle bet states and the grazing bill introduce by the fulani politicians and forcefully accepted by the middle bet governors is a clear example of their quest to rule over the good people of the middle bet.
.
*Yoruba Land
.
2. The yoruba tribe which has the highest Number of Muslims in southern Nigeria have lost lagos state to the hausa-fulani and igbo migrants especially in terms of population,ownership of infrastructures and small scale businesses even as the hausa-fulani-igbo migrants are desperately aiming the governorship seat of the state. The scrapping of state of origin will easily pave way for the hausa-fulani /igbo migrants with time to finally take over lagos state both politically and otherwise though it will be much more easier for the hausa-fulanis as very large number of Yoruba's in lagos are muslims and then Oyo and Ekiti state will eventually experience the same with time. The fulani herdsmen attack and the introduction of grazing bill is ones again and eye opener.
.
*The Niger delta
.
3. If scrapping of state of origin becomes successful the bitter effect of igbo domination experienced by the Niger deltans in the Old eastern region will over time come to play ones again. Already Port Harcourt have started experiencing this igbo domination in all parts and sector of the city even as the ikwerre traditional rulers are currently sleeping on bike leaving migrants in their land to ride their histories,cultures and traditions to exile. Rich igbo business men will invest their money in Niger delta politics and yes with the scrapping of state of origin they will surely rule over the minorities of the Niger delta politically and other wise.

* The Hausa-Fulani &
.
While it will be impossible for a southerner to rule over any northern state as the power hungry Hausa-Fulani will never watch this happen the Hausa-fulani will create grazing areas for themselves outside their territories (Especially in the middle bet) build schools, mosque,hospitals as promised by buhari a fulani, they will also use their wealth to collect political power from the indigenous people haven scrapped state of origin.
.
* The Igbo
.
The same way the north will never allow a southerner rule over any of the northern state, the igbos will not only deprive the north such power, it will also do thesame to the Yoruba and the Niger delta. Whereas the igbo will tactically cave out areas in each of the states with their industrious life style especially in the South west and Niger delta as we already have Igbo dominated areas in Port Harcourt and Lagos state. With the scrapping of state of origin rich igbo business men will invest in the politics of such area and with time govern that area or state.

I am Yoruba and I am vehemently opposed to the abolition of the Indigene/non-Indigene dichotomy. The ibos might think the scrapping of the state of origin would benefit them, but it would certainly backfire at the end of the day the same way Ironsi's Decree 34 backfired and burnt the ibos badly.

The world has moved beyond ethnic or racial identification in dealing with people. The requirement now is ability. Nobody cares about where you come from or the language you speak as long as you have the capacity to get the required results. We need to start running our public administration like a firm where the best hands are sought for and employed. Senator Melaye is very right on this. We need integration not segregation. People who reside in states other than their own contribute to the growth and development of that state. Why then should they be precluded from participating in its administration? Won't the decisions the administrators take affect them? The change has already begun in Lagos with the election of three "non-indigenes" into the National Assembly. It won't take long before it becomes nation wide. We are quick to cry foul when we are racially discriminated against by non-Nigerians, yet we fail to embrace one another as brothers. Are we not all God's children?

But why should people even reason in that direction for Pete's sake. How can you scrap state of origin? For what? Dino should be careful.
