Could anybody please help with information on typical labour rates for building artisans on a building project? For example, how much should I pay:

- Bricklayers for blocklaying and plastering? Is it per square meter?
- For concrete works e.g foundations, columns, slabs ie decking. Are rates negotiated per cubic meter of concrete?
- Painters
- Plumbers
- Electricians

I know these prices will vary based on quantity of work to be done but I would like to know basic rates that are used in arriving at fair prices for building projects.

Also, please does anybody know how much equipment like concrete mixers, compactors, pokers, theodolite etc are rented for?

For example, a poster once wrote that it might cost around -N-250/sqm for plastering.
I would like information on how much other artisans charge e.g. How much do tilers collect to lay tiles/sqm? How much would the guys laying interlocking/paving stones charge per sqm? etc.
Please help with whatever info you have. Thanks.
