The great mystery of life is that we have like 70 to 100years to live happy. To know who God is and consciously choose to spend Eternity with him.

But Man keeps thinking that he will not die. That maybe it is a lie. That he can live and become older that God. So man steals and kills and gathers money/wealth/fame. and enters newspaper head lines. But lo, before the 100years, he dies. And leaves behind all the wealth, fame, gold, money.... for another set of people to collect. His body turns into sand and his bones dry up in the constituent calcium. Further decay and it's all atoms in the air we breath.

We always forget that we will die and leave behind EVERYTHING. What matters most is doing God's commandments so that when you die God will welcome you.
If you refuse to do God's command, you will sha still die. Would you then expect God to welcome you? After disobeying every thing He said you should do whilst alive?
Will you say you didn't know? or You were not taught? Or nobody told you? or there was no book? Better go and read Bible now O.
