@alwaystrue, yes i stopped taking fertilaid immediately after i too the pregnancy test and switched to regular prenatal vitamins. Thnx for your concern.

@memyselfandi, i was not aware that Metformin and Fertilaid do not go together, this is the first time am hearing it cos my DR sanctioned it. My Dr was actually the person that introduced me to Fertilaid. But i dnt see why it shuld be an issue cos Fertilaid is pretty much like a prenatal vitamin.
Anyway, i was on Metformin 1500mg total, so i take one Metformin pill and one Fertilaid pill 3times a day. AM actually still on Meformin my DR wants me on it until after the first trimester.

Pls what was your diagnosis that made the doctor prescribe fertilaid to you alongside metformin? Besides, its even surprsing that Doctors now prescribe FA as I had always assumed they are usually against such supplements....what I mean is that they prefer prescribing drugs rather than supplements.

@alwaystrue, i hve PCOS which is the reason i was prescribed Metformin in the first place. My Obgyn told me start taking Fertilaid after i had two failed clomid cycles. Well, most Obgyn's will tel u to make sure ur taking Prenatal vitamins if ur trying to conceive.

Quick update
today is my CD20, but l still went to honour my gynea's last 4wks appointment yesterday. l told him l have seen my first period, he still suggested we do another preganancy test... guess what still positive LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, i was only laughing in LATIN. Never knew pregancy hormone can still show even after l have seen my first period. Infact l asked him if the test instrument is actually working.... He took another blood for hcg analysis shaa.

I am waiting for almight O though l felt l was Oing last wkend, did the needful but not very sure its O, maybe am in my fertile period ...l am taking B6, Folic with B12 and low dose aspirin, using preseed. I actually took my remaining Vitex for about 12 days. I am doing lots of prayers now.. God will come thru for all of us!


I am also eating more ewedu soup!, I eat it about 3times a week. i eat it without oil.

@ Udoka God's ways are not our ways he is possibly working sumtin behind the scene bcoz i dnt tink the Hcg hormone can stay that long in the body it has a half-life of about 24hrs or so.

AFM I dnt know what's happening with my body,I've bin on metformin for about 2months now,and for the first time ever i seemed to ovulate on my own,i felt ovulation pains,EWCM had a temperature shift and fertility friend even gave me the cross hairs! I was ecstatic but like 4 days after the supposed rise in temps my temps started falling that fertility friend had to reduce my coverline,@ a point it dropped so low even lower than my pre ovulation temps,way below the coverline and it continued fluctuating since then but stayed low. To cut the long story short I'm supposedly 20dpo today with negative pregnancy tests and absolutely no symptoms. I am so confused and I'm begining to feel i didn't ovulate afterall,its so depressing when i think of all the reactions i had to bear from the metformin and to end up with nothing,no ovulation no period!
Sorry guys just had to vent a little I'm so frustrated now.

Its well. Assume you have not ovulated, keep watching out for it and do the needful. I dont believe FF, it works on the info we feed it, sometimes such infos are wrong. Relax and enjoy BD, ovulation can occur at any date!!

@Udoka2, yea i was prescribed Progesterone 200mg daily, but dats pretty much d only thng am doing dis pregnancy dat i didnt do with my other pregnancies. Dnt wry dear, God has plans for u.

@ebony13, dnt b frustrated my dear. Are u still taking fertilaid or u stopped? According to my Infertility specialist, 2mnths is not enuf time for Metformin to work, even tho it depends on how bad ur PCOS is. But i remember wen he started me on Metformin, d agreement was that i'll be on it 6mnths and if it doesnt work on its own, then we'll think abt other stuff. And wen i complained dat 6mnths was too long he sed i have to gve it at least 3mnths then. Based on my personal experience I was on it for abt 4mnths wen i got pregnant unexpectedly d first time, without clomid or fertilaid jst on Metformin alone. So i believe it works but it takes time for it to get into ur system n try to balance out ur hormones.

@ Fruitful ladies --- I was reading about PCOS this evening and i discover alot of things, like cutting down on sugar and carbonhydrates such as white bread, pasta, rice, increasing protein in our food.
The i also read about some herbs that can help ranging from Castor oil, vitex,Dong quai,Saw palmetto and cinnanmon. has anyone used any of these, i heard fertilaid has both dong quai and vitex in it but dont know how far its true . My question is can one combine vitex and dong quai together or vitex and saw palmetoo.
Looking forward to your suggestions, baby dust to you all.

to the best of my knowledge dong quai and vitex go together, l dont know of others.

@bukieluv, thank you and Amen to ur prayer. I'v always knwn fertilaid has vitex but not dong quai, unless thrs another name for it. I also did a lot of research on PCOS wen i was first diagnosed wit it and yea cutting dwn carbs can make a huge difference.

Wow......I read 113 pages in almst 2 weeks. Its been interesting to say the least
I admire each n evry person in this forum....you've been more help and inspiration to silent readers like me than you'l ever know.so thanks and thanks a lot.

Here is my story.
I was diagnosed with PCOS 3 months ago. I've been married 8months now.I stay in Kaduna so it was a lil hard to find a good and reputable Doctr...

So far...I've used
Metformin 2000mg for 2 months,

Dostinex for high prolactin,

I've been using pregnacare for two months now,

I was also given cyclo-progynova to help regularize my period,

for this cycle I used clomid, today is cd10 so I should see my doctor in two days to check if the clomid is working and I'm suposed to start taking progesteron from Cd14.

And inbetween all that, I had an HSG done which showed both tubes were blocked....I did Hydrotubation to flush em out.I haven't done another to confirm if they opened or not, too painful an experience.
That's how far I've come so far
This is just to say what I've done so far for some of the ladies with PCOS lyk me.
I'm hoping this month I'l ovulate and the BD can make something happen.I pray God grants us all our heart desires.

@profeseur, welcme dear. I too hve PCOS and am on Metformin but d highest dosage I've been on is 1500mg. Is thr any particular reason y ur Dr has u on such a high dose of Metformin? I wuld also suggest doin another HSG, jst to confirm if d flushing worked. The drug ur taking to regulate ur period, is it actually working? I knw Fertilaid is very gud wit regulating periods esp for women wit PCOS.
I can't comment on d high prolactin, dnt knw anythng abt dat. I guess smeone else can comment or suggest smethng to u.

My Update:
My lovely sisters, August has been a fruitful month for me oooooooo,I am cautiously pregnant at the moment, sorry for not updating you ladies on time as i have been suffering from pregnancy rhinitis, morning sickness,nausea,vomiting, cramping here and there it has not been easy few weeks. Thank God that I am back on my feet again.

I had my 1st Ultrasound today and a Gestation sac showing a yolk sac was seen intrauterine measuring 17.9mm which put me at approximately 6weeks and 5days pregnant. I was suprised that i was measuring that far ahead,i thought i will be exact 6 weeks following my LMP. I will be going for a follow up scan a week or two to ascertain the foetal viability.

I started getting my BFP as early as 9dpo,below is a pix of my BFP at 12dpo,i thought AF was coming early as i was cramping seriously at 8dpo which prompt me to POAS just incase,i was shocked to get BFP so early.

I pray that the good Lord that has done this for me will come and touch everyone here and you will be next in line for your BFP.Sending loads of baby dust to everyone. Thank you all for the support and prayers.

I did not take any modern medicine this cycle,I took some herbs and tummy massage from an Ijaw naturapath as i was tired of clomid,injections,hospitals etc,but thank God it came to fruition. I took folic acid and used PreSeed also through out my fertile window.

Some advise and tips she gave me: Stay away from hot food,cut out sugar intake or sweet, no cold water,stop douching and most importantly to stay clear of BD from 7dpo. I have not BD from 7dpo till date until i am far gone in my pregnancy. Since i got my BFP,i have been using cyclogest and taking Pregnacare Original.

Relax and enjoy your BD,i know it is easier said than done,but i pray that God will direct your path and give you an insight on what to do to get your BFP.TTC is such a rollercoaster ride and it is very exhausting at times but don't give up,your set time is now!

I am doing well ladies. Switched doctors and now i have a fabulous one who redid my entire test and stated that I have PCOS. He put me on Metformin and Famera instead of clomid. Next week I will be removing a uterine polyp that was found and placed on antibiotics.
My hubby says once we have one child he will not make me go through all these again. We will be fine with just one. TTC is a horrible and sometimes painful journey

@Champs, OMG, been waiting patiently for another BFP and am so happy abt dis news right now. Congrats my dear, am so excited for u. I hvnt done an U/S yet but am guessing am abt 6weeks at d moment, so we not far apart. Ur U/S showing u at 6weeks n 5days is still accurate to a certain extent even if u think ur jst 6weeks, cos its +/- 3days. I decided i'll do things diff dan i did wit my other 2 pregnancies, i wnt go for a scan until am between 8 and 10 weeks. Ur pregnancy is permanant, thrs nutting to worry abt.

After 2 miscarriages, i expected that i'll be so worried but funny enuf am more at peace than i've been with anyother pregnancy. I jst believe in my heart that GOD will finish wat he has started. Am not even in a hurry to go for a scan, i hope my DR doesnt insist.

@ champs,congratulations and may this miracle be permanent amen.The good lord dat made u positive will also make the pregnancy viable.I'm also 9weeks gone,went for a scan at 5-6weeks and was told no fetal poole was asked to come back for a rescan in 2-3weeks time to rule out the chances of blighted ovum,I never go ooo.fear no even allow me sef.I had a miscarriage 4months ago and I pray I don't go thru such again.
