he named him Israel.

I see people dont name their son judas but people still name their child Jacob. Why is this happening. God changed Jacob name to Israel... He knew its not a befitting name, yet people still name their own Jacob. Why?

Some people are ignorant of the bible. Their is nothing bad in Jacob, I am Jacob right from the birth and I confidently carry the name. If one of the greatest apostles of Jesus christ can carry the name without fear and intimidation from christ then the name is good.

To me he just realigned Jacob name to setup something greater

As Israel later became rhe name of a nation and people

Jacob is a great name......if the name was condemned.... Provide thw bible passage

Honestly, there isn't much meaning to the splendid names given to you by your parents. What does have meaning, is what the person behind that name does during their actual lifetime. The name doesn't make the person. The name simply remains gently within the footprint left on the path a person walks.

now the bible did not codemn delilah, jezeebel or judas either but there actions where truly condemned which make for this day reasons why people rarely ever give their kids such names.Now Jacob had such history and a very bad personality but he loved God hence the need for God to give him a new start with a new name because once name is his identity. What baffles me though is how commo Jacob is but not hard working Esau that was hurt.*shrug*

There is nothing wrong with having the name 'Jacob' or any other name like that. What matters is how the Person bearing the name reacts to it. The names our Parents gave us have deep meanings though, but I prefer traditional names to the current Pseudo-Christian names we are giving our children these days. Names like Titilayo, Funmilayo, Adeleke, Oluwole, Diekolola, Abayomi, Olugebenga, Adewale, Babajide, Olajide, Olajire, Adejare etc are good names. The Jews who dominate the world when it comes to Business and Innovation hardly forsake their culture or change their traditional names during naming ceremonies. Same with the Japanese and Chinese People. These days People are not even using Kolanuts, Salt, Palm Oil etc at naming ceremonies again. Using these items at naming ceremonies does not mean you are a devilish person or family etc. God gave us Salt,Palm Oil, Kolanuts for reasons that are good. Let me stop here. Cheers.
