This one is a drdo lab prototype of a ultra wide band radar absorbing skin

It is basically a 4 layer capacitive jaumann absorber , and say if I can manipulate in real time the frequency selective surfaces then I can have my aircraft absorb a wide range of frequency bands and not get restricted to absorbing single band like ultra wide band @ 2-19ghz in this case.

(AFAIK all RAM/RAS absorbs a particular band of frequency.)

Russias r working on something like that ie adaptive RAS ie as per the EM threat the RAS adaptes itself to keep the plane invisible to the incident EM wave. drdo is also thinking of attempting it .

Let's see what happens.

is that possible?

a jet that can attain super cruise with out afterburn.

and when it comes to IRST no jet is immune.

Skin friction is enough IRST for some sensors. Russians have not masked engine exhausts heat effectively enough anyway. Active stealth would be rubbished when AI comes into its own in the world of radar signals interpretation. The major issue with Russia in aerospacec is lack of technological collaboration on the global stage. To get that they need to sacrifice expansionist urges so that companies in countries like France, UK and Germany feel no pressure not to do joint projects with them

Saudi Arabia threatens ‘military action’ if Qatar purchases Russian S-400 systems – report

Saudi Arabia has reportedly threatened “military action” against Qatar should its neighbor acquire Russian S-400 missile defense systems, according to Le Monde, citing a letter from King Salman to the French presidency.
In June 2017, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE, and Egypt, among other Gulf states, cut off diplomatic relations with Qatar, accusing it of supporting and funding terrorism. Doha was also accused of “meddling” in the internal affairs of its neighbors and of expressing support for Saudi Arabia’s historic rival Iran.

Now Riyadh is reportedly worried that Doha’s planned acquisition of Russia's S-400 surface-to-air missile units will jeopardize the “national security” of its Persian Gulf neighbors. According to information obtained by Le Monde, King Salman has recently sent a letter to the French presidency, where he expressed his “deep concern” vis-à-vis the ongoing S-400 negotiations between Doha and Moscow

While Washington has yet to comment on the anticipated purchase of S-400s by Qatar, the US has recently locked horns with Ankara over its decision to secure its airspace using Russian systems. The US continues to insist that Turkey should only be using NATO-compatible systems and buying them from “allies.” Raising the stakes, US lawmakers introduced a bill which seeks to ban F-35 deliveries to Turkey, referring to the country as “increasingly hostile.”

US lawmakers also warned India that procurement of Russian advanced military systems may jeopardize defense cooperation and technology-sharing between Washington and New Delhi, urging the country to reconsider the purchase.

Russia quietly conducted the world's longest surface-to-air missile test

Russia quietly conducted the world's longest surface-to-air missile test, according to sources with direct knowledge of U.S. intelligence concerning the weapons program.

The S-500 surface-to-air missile system successfully struck a target 299 miles away, which the U.S. assessed is 50 miles further than any known test, said the sources, who spoke to CNBC on the condition of anonymity.

Russia claims that the ground-based missile system is capable of intercepting hypersonic missiles, drones, aircraft as well as stealth warplanes like the F-22 and the F-35. The S-500 system would expand the Kremlin's capabilities to engage multiple targets with precision strikes.

Russia also claims the system has a range capable of destroying objects flying at near-space ranges or 62 miles above the Earth's surface.

The developments about the new missile system emerge as investigators claim that a Russian-owned surface-to-air missile blew up Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 in 2014 over eastern Ukraine. Russia has denied involvement in the incident. On Thursday, Moscow's defense ministry said none of the country's air-defense missile systems crossed the Russia-Ukraine border.

A medium-range Buk surface-to-air missile system was reportedly used to down the plane, resulting in the deaths of nearly 300 people. The Buk system is from a different family of missile systems as the new S-500 and its predecessor, the S-300V4, which has been operational since the late 1970s.

The test of the new system used a modified variant of the missile used in the S-300V4 surface-to-air system.

The latest revelation comes one week after CNBC learned that multiple U.S. intelligence reports assess that Russia will be capable of fielding a hypersonic glide vehicle called Avangard, a weapon that no country can defend against, by 2020.

The hypersonic weapon is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, is designed to sit atop an intercontinental ballistic missile. Once launched, it uses aerodynamic forces to sail on top of the atmosphere.

Sources, who spoke to CNBC on the condition of anonymity, said Russia successfully tested the weapon twice in 2016. The third known test of the device was carried out in October 2017 and resulted in a failure when the platform crashed seconds before striking its target.

Meanwhile, Russia is expected to test their hypersonic glide vehicle again this summer. linkhttps://www.msn.com/en-au/news/world/russia-quietly-conducted-the-worlds-longest-surface-to-air-missile-test/ar-AAxLA6m

Recent meet between Modi and Putin few days ago had finalized the deal for 5 regiments ( 10 divisions ) at 6.2 billion dollars.

With elements of s500 to be included when ready with the agreed tot for porting and integration with existing and upcoming ABM/SAMs and the relevant radars.

What is left remaining is how to make the payment circumventing the CAATSA.

Drdo is doing some cutting edge stuffs... I sometimes wonder why despite all this designs, the US still threatens them to forfeit some acquisitions... Like the S-300 SAM

Lol cutting edge ?

Ur giving them too much credit.

US tries to threaten everybody and trusts nobody.

U know UK uses US SLBMs in their SSBNs and to launch them both US and UK need to key into the PAL .

So much for being a major ally.

Agni 5 ICBM pre induction testfire today

Range 5000km ( officially )
Payload 1.5 tons ( officially )

Some say range ( and maybe payload ) is understated so as not to raise concerns in NATO Australia etc and that the range is 8000km. The payload most probably consists of 3 MIRVs and decoys .

MIRVs r yet to be tested and r waiting the delivery of drdo missile range instrumentation ship MRIS inorder to track MIRVs impacting as far as Antarctic .

It is both road and rail mobile

The biggest highlight of this ICBM is its CEP < 80m and this makes it one of the most accurate ICBMs in the world.

While weight reduction should be done as a on going process , need to higher specific impulse fuel at par with the western ICBMs for further reduction in weight.

Some more pics

The dense smoke is from the ejection gas generator at the bottom of the missile cannister which generates gas to eject the ICBM out of the cannister after which the missile fires it's motors

The dense smoke from the ejection gas generator also helps to mask the thermal flare of the missile launch from early warning EO based satellites

That missile range is too small to kill AWACS aircraft. Those aircraft do their thing at least 200km from the scene of air battle.

Yeah , but AFAIK the aim of such missiles is not to shoot it down which in itself will be a tough ask since the AWACS will detect and easily jam the onboard active seeker of the missile .

But rather the aim of such missiles is to force the AWACS to abort it's mission or flee the operational airspace.

It is same as long range SAMs where most people think it is easy to shoot down fighters at long range.

But the main aim of long range SAMs is to force the fighter at high altitudes and at long ranges to either abort it's mission or drop it's payload in order to escape or force it to come to lower altitudes where medium range SAMs will either shoot it down or force it to flee or force it to even lower altitudes where highly manuverable short range SAMs will be able to score a hit with the highest kill probability.

Also AWACS being pursued by a long range aam might be fooled/coerced into running into a ambush away from the cover of its escort fighters.

Seriously ?

The armed forces always complain that the state defence production units don't deliver in time.

Now HAL has delivered 30 ALH and RUDRAs ahead of delivery schedule but now the army has not yet finished building the housing facilities or training the pilots and hence refused to take the delivery
