DRDO border surveillance system with EO sensors and radars

Such systems will do well in Nigeria in the northern areas .

U cannot patrol everywhere all the time.

Fixing such systems outside high risk communities , bases , towns etc for surveillance etc will allow for preemptive strikes by fewer mobile forces and assets.

Due to high situational awareness , threat can be localised easily ahead of red zone and therby contained properly with minimal risk to military and civilians.

This system does not require attendance and operate on a pre defined autonomous basis and can be controlled from a centralised control centre and the feed can from there on can even be send to higher echelons.

The Kurds ambushed the Turks

Side effect of Erdogan purging the military.

The soldiers just fixed (limited) themselves to the location (or thereabouts) where they got ambushed.

Afaik never present a fixed target on being ambushed. Got to keep moving.

If u allow urself to get abmushed u r already as good as dead and from that moment the onus is on you to fight to disengage (move away) from the assault inorder to live to fight another day.

Unless u have the numerical superiority and better firepower for support.

A capable destroyer will cost around 1billion dollars.

A top of the line corvette should cost 250-300 million dollars max inclusive of the weapons.

I wonder the usefulness of our Ministry of Interior at times. I had a PDF of a proposal in/by the ministry for something similar from a Spanish/French company but I guess the proposal will be lying on a shelf

IAF helicopter and support package cost 1.4 billion for 22 (63 million a pop)

IA helicopter and support package cost 930 million for 6 (155 million a pop)

So basically army is trying to duplicate the facilities relating to maintenance and training etc only for itself.

Also I wouldn't take the cost as final. A DSCA notification in August 2013 for 145 M777 howitzers estimated the cost as $885 million, but the final deal was inked at $737 million.

Also IA has 114 LCH and 60 on initial order and the facilities for Apaches will be utilized for both of them and at the least duplicated for the both.

Plus a rotor mounted radar is being developed for LCH and experience with the Apache will be helpful to validate the same.

Experience , tech and SOP learnt from Apache will definitely impact the fine tuning of the locally developed helicopters.

And yeah the price looks steep best to wait for the final deal.

Maybe composites and high strength polymers or a combination of both or maybe something else.

Just thank God it happened in India because your Chief of Army Staff will be headline news for 3 months if it was Nigeria. grin

Every day the news will be "Airforce bought 22 American Attack helicopters for $1.4 billion while the army chief is buying 6 of the same helicopters for almost $1 billion".

No matter the explanation you give the news will keep trending.

I understand

It's a FMS deal so no problem , only media and people with vested interests will scream.

And deal is done by the defence ministry , army only carries out the trials and recommends it
