where else in the world do you sack people without notice, without reason, just give them letters with the caption service no longer needed, if not in nigeria, stanbic just did what they cannot try in south africa.they just sacked some very good hands with experience, so much about wat they say about following steps before an employee is sacked, so much for a right to defend urself, so much for foreign ownership of banks, if this is what it comes with then im better with a nigerian bank, than a foriegn on. my heartfelt sympathy to those who were sacked ( not even given a chance to resign)!

People should stop coming to the net to tell us the banks sacking people and the number of staff sacked. the truth is that people must be sacked at any point in time. Before the reccession, where banks not sacking people? Please lets discuss positive gists and not sack! sack!! sack!!!

people , lets be careful the accusations we make, unless you work in the bank and know the basis of the sack dont be so certain that people were asked to go for no reason, i can assure you, no business would ask its good hands to leave for no reason, unless you are saying everyone in the bank is an angel.

I know you are angry and all, but

banks around the world fired people, a lot of them were not given chances to defend themselves they were fired based on the banks claim that they are restructuring.

It is not only foreign banks in Nigeria that are firing people without reason, it happened in Wema and Oceanic, and Stanbic just joined the list.

Be careful what you say; remember, what goes around comes around.
What burgy said is exactly what happened and you'll never know the impact of this unless you work in S.Ibtc.
It was and it's still is (for some who were dismissed without previous warning, query or reason) an unfair dismissal, reccesion or not. You know why they will get away with it in Nigeria? They will because of comments such as felo felo's. You have spoken the minds of an average nigerian (self centered & unconcerned about fellow citizens), the labour agencies and the Government. IT IS SUCH A BIG SHAME

For those affected, i know not one of you, but God knows you all. He will shine His countenance upon you and move you up. BELIEVE, RELY & TRUST IN HIM.

Have a pleasant day y'all.

hey guys, what is happening now calls for sober reflection. We r experiencing a very terrible moments of our individual and national lives. What we need is encouragement from one another and not bashing or attacking each other.Soonest, the meltdown impact will be over and things will bounce back, that I can assure you.For our brothers and sisters and their dependants that were affected, hard times does not last lone. You will get a better offer someday somewhere somehow. 1 luv
